Immigration to just about anywhere anyone woyld want to live is nearly impossible except for a tiny percentage of favored people. I have to admit to a profound envy of people who fall into that category by accident of birth or fate, e.g. Swedish parent? Irish grandparent? Dutch spouse? Come on in! ---

I have a friend whose family is of recent (couple of generations) Swiss descent. They actually have some kind of “right of return.” I’ve asked her what the hell they’re waiting for! I wonder if she could adopt me (she’s only about six years older, so maybe not) or maybe we could become a lesbian married couple of convenience. ---

In the days of lynching and race rioting (early 20th Century), this is what racist policemen and guardsmen would do. Show a presence to give the appearance that they were responding, but they were mainly present to make sure that the blacks (or hippies in the late 1960s) couldn’t fight back. ---
