There is an element of condescension in some of the male acceptance of the double standard. Its a very “aww, isn’t that cute. Well, we’ll let them feel like they won that one. It’ll be good for their confidence”

Of course life isn’t fair. Ask any black man trying to get a job or Asian kid trying to get into college or white woman trying to get a promotion into a managerial position. But white men have a burden to bear as well. If you are a white man, you are left with the impression that the game of life was your to lose and somehow you lost.

Sexism and racism, in speech and policy, are fine if the targets belong to the “patriarchy.”

As the source of an argument. A very persuasive one, in this case, based on some essential but little-known facts cited therein, and sourced therein, and quoted in my post.

> As a man, it does register with me that men are starting to be portrayed in a negative light. I do see a general trend towards men being represented as naive, unaware, not good parents, etc. There are a lot of unfair biases against men in the media.

I think this mostly has to do with the iconoclastic nature of humor. It is generally more funny for the underdog to overcome the person in power that the other way around. A peasant showing his superiority over a king is high humor. A king showing his superiority over a peasant is at best boring and at worst bullying. Is it entirely fair to men that humor tends to be at our expense? No. But its just the price we have to pay for being in an otherwise dominant position.

Anyone genuinely interested in learning should look up the following:

– Discrimination against men in divorce

– Men getting 63% higher sentence for the same crime

– Very severe discrimination against [male victims of Domestic Violence](http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/12061547/How-male-victims-of-domestic-abuse-often-end-up-getting-arrested-themselves.html)

In the Internet Age any information can be found.

Thank you. My presentation skills need lots of work on them.

Some YouTube videos get millions of views, but I must learn much more. Soon I will buy books on how to make good presentations.

There’s a bit of that, along with a tendency (in American humor, anyway) for the starring role to be a clown or buffoon. Compare a show like _Home Improvement_ with _I Love Lucy_; the lead character always getting into ridiculous situation and surrounded by reasonable, long-suffering friends and family. So, is Lucy Ricardo a positive or negative for women? As a character she’s a terrible role model, but Lucille Ball was also the star and driving force behind the show. I think you can cherry pick the evidence for either side of the debate.

Without a doubt, these injustices do occur frequently enough that they ought not be ignored.

So, what are we debating?

Majority of stuff on the internet is noise generated by the “mainstream media”, click-bait, and porn. So I’m not sure why you think people are more likely to get ‘good’ information by Googling. Some will. Most won’t or don’t know how to tell the difference between fact and someone’s blogged opinion.

No, we agree these are happening. The issues is not that we are victims of a biased media. The issue is that for every claim of discrimination against men, you can find 10 that women have to put up with.

No one is claiming men don’t face - any - discrimination.
