I wouldn’t say they’re the ugliest, the ole butthole has that trophy firmly tucked away (ahem). I don’t see anything esthetically pleasing or neat about it. It’s certainly simple and less complicated, but it’s just gross looking, like a crinkly portal to hell. And if you stare long enough into that abyss, you can feel all sorts of evil staring right back at you. Penises are just silly looking, and it doesn’t matter their state. I certainly enjoy mine (and on rare occasion others have been known to as well) but it doesn’t have a photogenic side. It’s just plain goofy, up, down and all around. It’s two buddies are even worse, they’re the only part of the body that age in dog years. It’s bad enough we have to carry this silly one eyed monster around, but we need a 200 year old bag of marbles hanging around it like a cowbell too? Lady bits… no complaint there, but I will continue my study of as many samples as I can get my hands on. ---

I think the notion of aesthetics is more complicated than simply positive or negative associations with the overall work/object/entity. Triumph of the Will is often considered a masterful display of cinematography, and aesthetically excellent. It is, however, still Nazi propaganda and carries with it all the negative associations that come with that. Same with Birth of a Nation, I believe Ebert called it “an excellent film that argues for evil.” I don’t think these facts are at odds with each other. Something can have negative associations and be beautiful, and positive associations and be hideous. ---

Yes, divorced from all positive connotations, neither are beautiful. Even staying with the old peg and slot function, a designer could come up with something much better than nature has. Those folks at IKEA could do wonders for cocks and pussies, and for once I’d have the patience to fumble my way through the instructions. ---
