Because I can personally promise you there are thousands of illegal aliens sitting in jails across the country draining resources from local communities at this very moment. And it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume 1 or 2 more come in the next day to take their place (maybe not actually “in jail,” but you get the point) if the presently fermenting group did get kicked in a timely manner. ---

I would expect an illegal alien sitting in jail to complete his or her sentence before being deported. And there’s also the logistical impossibility of deporting all of them that quickly. ---

I’d like to think that the Democratic Party can take a majority in the House (and, I hope, the Senate) in two years. But many districts have been so gerrymandered that they’re safely in one camp or the other. ---
