Actually it was never made clear that was Brasi’s child, though it was strongly implied.
Ah ok. To be honest, I was hoping it would spur a memory of the scene in the book, but it didnt.
And I really didnt want to slog through the damned book or movie again, I really REALLY dont see why some people seem to worship the damned movie, just like PorkLips Now [although the helicopter Ride of the Valkyries scene is pretty cool]
It also showed Michael’s attitude towards Kay. As we later see, she was waiting for him to return after he basically disappeared. He meanwhile met another woman and married her. Does anyone think he would have ever bothered to contact Kay if Apollonia had lived? He had dumped Kay, who he probably saw as a college fling, and never even bothered to tell her.
But when Apollonia was killed and Michael needed a wife, he called Kay up. Notice that he never told her that he had married another woman who had died; Michael didn’t see the need to be truthful to Kay even as he was proposing to her.
