Ah, I see. Thanks for the information. Too bad, that would have been cool to see Spacey win an Oscar for producing. I hope Dana Brunetti is one of the three that get the nomination then. Back when he and Spacey had first created Trigger Street Productions I went to the premiere of his very first film (“Uncle Frank”) and he was a really cool young guy. It’d be awesome to see him win an Oscar! ---

2009 was the first year since the limit of 3 rule went in place in 2000 (after Shakespeare in Love brought five producers onto the stage) that there were more nominees than that for a movie and it was an unusual situation. It was for The Reader and two of the four nominees were posthumous (Sidney Pollack and Anthony Minghella). ---

I told my husband that Helena Bonham-Carter was wearing one green shoe and one red shoe and he asked “port/starboard?” And I went back and looked and damn he was right. I guess she wore them to tell her feet apart. Anything that makes overpaid, overpampered Hollywood stars feel uncomfortable is just fine with me. Gervais is the only thing that made watching this (highly suspect) award ceremony bearable. ---

Sandra Bullock seemed really out of it, both on the red carpet and when presenting an award. And she looked awful, too. I like her, but something was really off about her last night. I hope Gervais is back as host next year–I like that he reminds everyone how ridiculous the entertainment industry can be. ---

There’s nothing wrong with mocking the industry, but Gervais was just insulting the people coming on stage. For instance, his intro to Tom Hanks & Tim Allen: “Hanks is celebrated, famous, successful and acclaimed, and Tim Allen isn’t.” The only point of that is to embarrass Tim Allen, not the entertainment industry. ---

I thought one of the sweeter moments of the night was when Kaley Cuoco announced that Jim Parsons had won the GG for Best Actor (TV comedy/musical). She was so excited for her cast mate and it was really nice to see that enthusiasm. ---

And looking at the Youtube clips, I don’t think Gervais was that mean. I’m pretty sure Robert Downy Jr and Charlie Sheen are pretty jaded about people joking about their drug problems by now, and calling Tim Allen unaccomplished while handing him a Golden Globe isn’t exactly cutting. ---
