More importantly, are you saying that if you believe the OP of a thread is “idiotic”, even if there followed a lively and fairly civil set of responses to that OP (by Pit standards, at least), that that’s sufficient grounds to lock it? And maybe even sufficient grounds to threaten the OP’ers posting privileges? That’s fucking insane. It’s unfair. It’s stupid. But mostly it reeks of arbitrariness. It means that at the end of the day there really are no rules. It means that the only thing that matters is the subjective and arbitrary opinion of those with the power. Sad. Nicely put, **Karl** , right the way through. Indeed, “there really are no rules” when the “rule” is “we get to decide whatever we want to decide whenever we want to.” That’s exactly what has happened in my case, with predictably reprehensible results. You just can’t put that kind of power in the hands of ordinary people. You end up with something along the lines of that Dennis Rader guy out there in Wichita, a cloak of responsibility and authority to conceal a most dangerous character, indeed. Now, most petty bureaucrats aren’t serial killers, but killing takes many forms, me hearties, many forms. By the by, kids, The Master’s contribution on the topic of the divorce rate more or less bears out the figure I presented in my marriage thread. I could have been more specific, but the result is the same. For all intents and purposes, 50% of marriages end in divorce. And of the 50% that survive, what percentage of those consider themselves “happily“ married? No one even dares to ask, except for me, of course. I effectively took married people by the collar and stuck their faces up to the chart and said, “Look, you fuckers. Look at what you’re doing to yourself and others! And all in the name of fitting in!” An humanitarian impulse, on my part. I guess I just care too much. Comes with the territory. ---

Actually, the more I think about my motives for posting to this thread, the less I like. You quite obviously feel the need for attention but can’t or won’t distinguish between negative attention (insulting people to get them angry) and positive attention (being humourous and/or thought-provoking).
