So the one I found wasn’t the one I was looking for after all! You found it though. And here I was feeling so good about myself. Thanks for bursting my bubble. (Just kidding. I’m thrilled that you found the one featured in Ripley’s. Thanks a million! Now I’ve just got to get to Alabama to see it.)
I’ve just about given up looking for recording artists’ discographies on Google because so many spam websites have registered the term “discography” as a keyword. When you click on the link, it takes you to a site that has nothing to do with music, the artist or their works, and it usually loads all kinds of cookies on your computer. AllMusicGuide has been an og-send for this purpose.
Try “anarcosyndaclist.” I believe that its a combination of “anarchy” (lack of ruling class) and “syndaclism [sic]” (a movement that was big in the UK cerca the 1920s-30s. I think it had to do with business.). Who says a liberal education is worthless?
Or, better yet, try anarcho-syndicalist.
Here’s the dictionary.com definition for anarcho-syndicalism:
And here’s syndicalism:
And here’s the wikipedia entry for anarcho-syndicalism.
So, where do I sign up to be a Google Answers reseracher?
:smack:
But, as for what “creme of the cake” is, I think it is an americanization of crème de la crème (KREM duh luh KREM) “The best of the best” as the French would say.
I have been searching fruitlessly to find spoilers for the ending of the movie Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh, but I have been unable to find anything about the ending. Only reviews, DVDs for sale, etc…Very frustrating!
I have been looking for the title or artist of a song that is in the movie, Captain Ron.
I think it’s called, Where You Going Caroline. Everytime I catch the movie on tv I try to spy it on the credits but never seem to get it. Arrg
I’m sure I must have the title wrong and I don’t know the band.
Roaring Lion’s song “Caroline” was in “Captain Ron.”
You can listen to a clip from “Caroline” here to see whether or not it’s the song you want.
It’s a very cool job. The pay is terrible, but the work is interesting, and the coworkers are wonderful. Google Answers is pretty much at a standstill, though; they have not added any new Researchers to the crew for more than two years.
There are lots of Idlewilds in North America, it’s a reasonably common place name… including the Anne of Green Gables place name - but that’s not the first recorded instance as far as I know, there seem to have been Idlewilds in the North East of the United States prior to that - as far as I can tell pre-dating Anne of Green Gables by a couple of decades. Scotland sounds like a possible new lead though! Yay! The hunt continues.
That wasnt the Money Pit was it? on a small island found by 3 brothers, every time they started to dig to a certain depth it flooded?
if so I have a book from the early 70’s that has it mentioned in it (Myths Monsters & Mysteries I think) which I inherited from my brother, I can scan the story and email it to you (has a few photos)
First of all, note that there are alternative spellings of “Idlewild”, notably, “Idyllwild”.
As for things I’m trying to find:
(1) Any information about a 1950’s or 1960’s era broccoli poster I have hanging on my wall, for Andy Boy brand broccoli, which features a young girl dressed up as a stalk of broccoli, with the caption “The Tender Years”. It’s the campiest thing EVER. I’m not actually sure what information I’m looking for, but it seems to be totally absent from the web.
(2) Any information on an old foreign movie called “porizmani” or “porismani” that I have a small poster from.
(Both of the above items I inherited from my grandmother, a woman of wide ranging interests and exquisite taste.)
(3) Who the hot woman who looks like Sandra Bullock was in a beer commercial from 5 years or so ago. The song featured in this commercial had the repeated line “I wanna rock right now… I wanna rock right now…” and it just showed lots of young people having fun drinking beer, one of whom was a SUPER hot woman dancing incredibly sexily.
(4) Streaming video links to any of the following commercials:
-Charles Barkley selling Right Guard with no “Flaky White Stuff”
-Driver, do you have any Bud Light in your limo?
-A mid-'90s NBA ad which began with the line “'scuse me sonny” and then went into “Whoomp, There It Is”
Maybe KREM duh lah KREM.
I speak that language, too, with limited success. It’s better than my Spanish, but far worse than my German.
, but not ;j
