First of all, I wouldn’t have gone to that shit, either.

You realize that this doesn’t make sense, don’t you? I mean, let’s look at it another way.

Democrats don’t try to court Whites, therefore they’re giving up on attracting non-White voters who don’t feel comfortable in a non-White-club only.

You’d agree with that statement, correct?

Don’t be foolish. I’m a white voter, and I don’t belong to the KKK. Civil rights for minorities is important to me, and I believe they are also in my long-term best interest. Obviously, I would be very disinclined to join a racist organization.
I believe there are many, many more White voters like me. If I am correct, that’s too bad for the ®s, who seem to think white men are a monolithic demographic they can count on.
Besides the (D)s **do** try to court me, by legitimizing the utility of science in the public interest, responsible and adult (in my view) approaches to taxation and spending for the greater public good, and so on. They are certainly not pursuing an agenda that I would find automatically alienating.

Concerning employment/unemployment figures, it nothing to do with ‘numbers’ being wrong, but everything to do with HOW/WHAT numbers in the current model are given consideration when assessing the status of America’s workforce.

Unemployment numbers are being calculated in the same manner they have been for the past several decades.

No, because plenty of white people support the Democrats. Also, white people are the majority- the dynamics are different for minority groups, and feelings about minority groups.

But _more_ White people supported the Democratic party five years ago than they did last year (again, I point you to the rather remarkable turnaround in voting patterns for Whites under 30 from 2008 to 2012). So why does your statement not work in reverse? Saying “because it’s different!” is a total cop out, and both you and I know this.

Why? Would you have been a Republican in 1964 because most racists sided with the Democrats? Or would you have remained a Democrat and just considered yourself part of the progressive wing of the party?

Let me tell you a story about a place called Hillsdale College. Hillsdale College, like the Republican party, was progressive on racial issues. It was founded by abolitionists(like the GOP). It had a longstanding non-discrimination policy and fought for civil rights throughout its history.

Fast forward to the present, and Hillsdale College is now “racist” because they don’t keep track of how many minorities they have, do not have an affirmative action program, and have fought against federal and state attempts to force them to consider race in admissions.

But did Hillsdale change? No, and neither did the GOP.

</div>

No, it has been described as a conservative college nowadays, it seems more likely that most of the contributors are conservative and that the change is just a mirror of what happened with the Republican party.

The GOP of today would rather not go to the Lincoln monument to celebrate the memory of the emancipator and then the memory of MLK and the struggle for civil rights.

It is a conservative college. With a 160 year history of non-discrimination. Just like the Republican party.

Keep doing those ignorant points, it does help to make my point with my conservative relatives.

Once again, the democrats can not deny their sorry racist past, but denying that there was a change with the democrats and the racists were not welcomed as before is really silly, just as silly as not realizing that then the party of Lincoln took them in, not making much of an effort of telling those former democrats to take a hike.

That change was also celebrated at the Lincoln memorial recently by many Democrats.

So basically what it comes down to is that whoever wins the South is the racist party.

That’s the conservative problem. The world is moving forward and they don’t change with it.

Ah, so the problem wasn’t that we discriminated based on race, it’s that we did it the wrong way.

No, the problem is that racial discrimination was considered acceptable fifty years ago and it is not considered acceptable now. So you shouldn’t brag about not changing your racial attitudes. Being steadfast is not a virtue when you’re wrong.

It is acceptable now. That’s why Hillsdale has been under so much pressure to start discriminating on the basis of race.

It seems that you missed that the pressure is not there anymore as the school did go forward by not taking federal money. Would not be surprised that now the pressure is now coming from some wealthy contributors.

actually, it still comes from the authorities. Although they are not obligated to create diversity programs, or even count their students by race, state authorities went to the school recently to count up and classify the student body by race, for God knows what reason.
