I think that committee meeting back in '95 to decide what to get for a tourist attraction must have gone down something like this…
Committee Chairperson: “Ok, we need to build a museum and fill it with something unusual to bring in the tourists…”

Too bad there was not one of a Gopher golfing. It would have been a great picture to give to my buddy. A couple years ago we were at a golf tournament and having a grand time, we were in the middle of a long par5 and my buddy says he thinks he can reach the green and he is going for it. He makes a mighty swing and *ALMOST * misses the ball and succeeds in driving it straight down into the ground. At the exact same time, in an amazing feat of synchronicity, the ball pops straight up into the air and a small gopher jumps out of a hole about 25 feet away and hauls ass down the fairway towards the green. It was a perfect case of Go-Pher it golf. I was not the only one of our foursome who laughed so hard he cried. People on the next fairway over just looked at the four of us laughing hysterically with a 
look on their faces. I cannot wait to go golfing with him on Sunday there are plenty of Gophers and ground squirrels at Arroyo Del Oso Golf course. I am sure this story will come up.
