This thread is about TV shows that, for whatever reason, lasted only one season or less.

I’ll start with [_Profit._](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profit_(TV_series)) So wonderfully creepy and disturbing! 🙂 I guess that’s why it was canceled. ☹

I quite liked _ **Vegas** _ two years ago. I was surprised it didn’t do better in the ratings.

Same goes for Michael Mann’s _ **Private Eye** _ back in the '80s.

There was this little thing Joss Whedon threw together called _Firefly_. It had promise.

Too soon. Sob.

Unfortunately, I found that _Profit_ didn’t hold up on recent viewing. It was plodding, pre-X-files weird, which means it was slightly weirder than _Murder, She Wrote_.

Two Judd Apatow series; Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. Also, Kings, a sort-of modern day Biblical story.

Athough [Huff](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huff_(TV_series)) was on for two seasons on Showtime, it was only 26 episodes. It was probably cancelled because I was the only one who watched it.

Barely! Keigh Deigh did not put his name in the credits. He was also on M_A_S\*H once or twice, but I can’t find his listing.

Before Misfits and Heroes, there was [Misfits of Science](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088568/?ref_=nv_sr_1). It was an action-comedy about a group of oddballs with paranormal abilities. It only lasted a season, but I watched every episode because of Courtney Cox.

Darn, she’s purty.

It’s [Khigh Dhiegh](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0223556/).

My nomination:[My World and Welcome to It](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmYZb6PdAf4&list=PLD2CFE0CA4E6C0C5A), a low-key, charming comedy based on the works of James Thurber.

Back about 2006-ish, there was a show on one season called Surface, about a kid that found a sea serpent egg and hatched it. I loved that show.

The first season ended with a cliff-hanger… AND NEVER CAME BACK.

“[Bearcats!](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066631/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1)” 13 episodes, plus pilot movie. A must-see.

“[Jonny Quest](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057730/?ref_=nv_sr_1)” 26 episodes. I have the DVD package and will defend it with my life.

“[Where’s Huddles](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065353/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1)?” 10 episodes. Just mentioning it in passing.
I could do this all night. From memory. God, that’s depressing.

[Alien Nation](http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0096531/) - a superb adaptation of the 1988 movie. It ended on a cliffhanger, which did get resolved in a TV movie. A few other movies followed.

[Police Squad](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_Squad!) anyone?

> [@](#):

> ABC announced the cancellation of Police Squad! after four of its six episodes had aired in March 1982. The final two episodes were aired that summer. According to the DVD Commentary of “A Substantial Gift” (episode 1), then-ABC entertainment president Tony Thomopoulos said “Police Squad! was cancelled because the viewer had to watch it in order to appreciate it.” What Thomopoulos meant was that the viewer had to actually pay close attention to the show in order to get much of the humor, while most other TV shows did not demand as much effort from the viewer. In its annual “Cheers and Jeers” issue, TV Guide magazine called the explanation for the cancellation “the most stupid reason a network ever gave for ending a series.”

It was more than sort-of, it was exactly David and Goliath and it was really cool.

Anyone remember _Push, Nevada_? It was a serialized mystery involving an IRS investigator and shenanigans in the desert. I really enjoyed it but it disappeared after half a season.

One of my all-time favorites, _Nowhere Man_, was a kind of less insane version of _The Prisoner_ and a classic of the _X-Files_ era conspiracy show. It ended on a cliffhanger after one season. ☹

Somewhat similar was a science fiction show called _John Doe_ about a guy who wakes up one day and knows _everything_, except who he is. That also ended on a an unresolved cliffhanger. ☹
