**Almost Human** was a great show starring Karl Urban. I was said to see it die.

**Alcatraz** had its issues, but was also a really good show. ☹

One series that never deserved the bad handling it got:

> **[Coronet Blue](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coronet_Blue)**
>
> Coronet Blue is an American adventure drama series that ran on CBS from May 29 until September 4, 1967.
> It starred Frank Converse as Michael Alden, an amnesiac in search of his identity. Brian Bedford co-starred. The show's 13 episodes were filmed in 1965 and were originally intended to be shown during the 1965–66 television season, but CBS put the show on hiatus when they reversed an earlier decision to cancel the drama Slattery's People. The network had plans to show Coronet Blue the followin...

I wouldn’t mind seeing it redone as a period piece like _ **The Americans** _, but only as long as it remained true to the original.

_Dresden Files_, the wizard detective.

_Moonlight_, the vampire detective show on CBS. Ok, maybe a theme is emerging.

_Almost Human_, police drama with the human paired with the android. Still painful.

There was one with humans with special abilities. I can’t remember the name. It got cancelled early and the show ended with everyone meeting at a house that blew up. Boom! That’s it.

This season:

“[Selfie](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3549044/?ref_=nv_sr_1)” It actually improved after cancellation was announced, but it’s probably toast.

“[A to Z](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3216682/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1)” Might be saved at the last minute. Hope not, bad show.

There was a cop show called [Memphis Beat](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1409008/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) that ran for 20 episodes in 2010-2011.

I liked the setting–sort of a rougher-tougher Mayberry (real crime and some violence)-- and I liked the ensemble. They were quirky, warm, serious, wise, funny, and the characters liked and respected each other. The plots were serious and touching, but there was humor and tenderness, too.

The best thing was [Alfre Woodard,](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005569/?ref_=tt_cl_t6) who played the Lieutenant. She epitomized what I think a woman should be: strong, smart, vulnerable at times, sexy, and incredibly beautiful in a real world way. They put her in clothes that a regular woman in an informal office in the south would wear-- sweaters in jewel tones, pencil skirts, flats. God, she was something… I had a serious girl-crush on her and wanted to be just like her (the actress is 4 years younger than I am).

Episodes often ended with the main character doing something musical, and I could have done without that. He must be a singer in his other life.

_[Lucky](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0312271/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_34)_, starring post-_Northern Exposure_ John Corbett, pre-_Mike and Molly_ Billy Cardell and pre-_The Office_ Craig Robinson, was a really good show about the seedier side of Las Vegas. It really had an outstanding cast and well-written storylines.

Naturally, it lasted one season.

There was a series a long time ago, pre-X-files. It starred Dennis Dugan and Trevor Eve and was called Shadow Chasers. I loved that show but alas it was a one season wonder and now it’s difficult to find anyone who remembers it. I did get some episodes on video tape though … Beta. :smack:

For some reason tonight, I was reminded of _[Trophy Wife](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2400736/?ref_=nv_sr_1)_, a sitcom from last year. It was a pretty good show and I would have liked to have seen it renewed.

> My nomination:[My World and Welcome to It](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmYZb6PdAf4&list=PLD2CFE0CA4E6C0C5A), a low-key, charming comedy based on the works of James Thurber.

Never heard of this show before (a little before my time and it was never syndicated as far as I remember), but just watching a little on YouTube it was definitely ahead of its time. Also Danny Arnold did it (he would later do _Barney Miller_).

Good god, Jonny Quest only lasted _one season?!_ It was rerun so interminably I would have thought there were 100+ episodes! Shows what you’ll watch as a kid! (and without it there might not have been a _Venture Bros_!)

Recently, I thought _Unsupervised_ was a great adult animated show. And as I predicted Adult Swim is rerunning it (maybe it’ll get a second chance!)

All of this. I totally agree. I really liked that show and admired the Lieutenant as well. The plots were thoughtful and well-written, and characters grew more interesting. The hang out and sing endings? Well, it _was_ Memphis. 🙂

Dhiegh, born [Kenneth Dickerson](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khigh_Dhiegh), wasn’t of Asian extraction. He was, however, a devotee of Taoist philosophy. Sort of strange:

He founded the Taoist Sanctuary (now the Taoist Institute) in Hollywood, California. Dhiegh also had a doctorate in theology, and in his later years, was the rector for a Taoist sanctuary in Tempe, Arizona called ‘Inner Truth Looking Place.’

> Somewhat similar was a science fiction show called _John Doe_ about a guy who wakes up one day and knows _everything_, except who he is. That also ended on a an unresolved cliffhanger. ☹

After the show ended, the producers resolved the cliffhanger in an interview.

In Season 2 we would have found out that John Doe’s friend wasn’t the leader of the shadowy organization, it was just some random mook who got plastic surgery. And the secret for his knowledge would have been revealed as him dying and coming back to life after touching Heaven.

[Wonder falls](http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0361256/) on Fox in 2004. They only aired four episodes, which ran out of order. The whole 13 episode season is on DVD. The last episode is a good ending for the series so they must have known it was ending.
