Never been to a bar mitzvah, but have never been to a wedding reception where names were checked at the door. I suppose I’d say that’s someone wearing an anachronistic costume, not someone being “well dressed”. None of a suitcoat, vest, umbrella, etc. are unusual in and of themselves. But the style of them, and the particular color combo just shrieks 1930s-1940s cosplay. ---

Seriously, there are people dressed up like this everywhere in Paris. I was at the Louvre the day before the heist, and Fashion Week had just concluded. This guy would have barely gotten a second look on the Metro. The reason people online are speculating that he’s a detective is because the cops are showing no interest in his appearance. But the real reason they are showing no interest is because there isn’t anything notable about someone in that city dressing outlandishly. ---

Did she catch him? Its always fascinating to read the long history of many of these jewels, lost, found, cut, stolen, refashioned…hidden for years. Heres a bit on one of the other French jewels. They also have “the Grand Sapphire” in another museum. edit to fix location mistakes. Its confusing!! Of course I can, particularly when they are trying too hard to impersonate him. Further: You don’t wear a rain coat, a hat _and_ an umbrella. You don’t put the clip on your tie so high – actually, you don’t wear one with a vest, that holds the tie in place and you don’t need the clip. It is uncool to wear a watch on the right wrist. ---
