What’s up with Canada Post? If I understand correctly, Canada Post was legislated back to work over a week ago. I thought mail delivery was supposed to resume last week. I have yet to see evidence of it - no mail delivery to my house since before the work stoppage. Did I misunderstand? Has anyone else received mail in the past 7 days? ---

I have received a bit of mail, but my VISA bill which would be due today is still AWOL - I just paid an estimate to maintain my sterling credit rating. I don’t know exactly when and where my family came to Canada - my dad’s family was from England, and went back and forth for generations, apparently. My mom’s family (Mennonites from Holland/Russia) came over and settled in Saskatchewan (I think) some time around the 1900’s (I think). ---

It just occurred to me that the mail that I have received has been delivered by a private contractor (a rural route), whereas I have not received any mail at my business address, which is serviced by a Canada Post union employee. ---

Don’t know if it’s being delivered by Canada Post or a random neighbourhood person. I am _still_ waiting for those cheques, which pisses me off since I need to pay for a dragon boat race again soon! ---

I’ve been getting proper mail. Still a few things missing that ought to have arrived, but stuff is making it’s way through the system. Three out of four of my grandparents were born in Alberta - but I’m not sure when their families arrived. I should look into that… ---

Not as much as normal, and some things I’d expect to have by now are dreadfully late–most bills, for example, haven’t shown up yet. But the junk mail is as plentiful as ever. As for the other question: circa 1840, Hastings County, Ontario. ---

[Here’s an article](http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2011/07/06/canada-post-dragging.html) about the slow return to service by Canada Post. I still haven’t received my cheques, though today I did get a bill for something that was due last week. ---

I got my credit card bill a couple of days ago. It was due June 30. Fortunately, I use ePost, so I got the electronic copy ages ago. I’m not even sure why I still get the paper copy. ---

I just read [Jack Layton’s statement](http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/07/25/full-text-jack-laytons-statement-on-his-health/) that he’s stepping down temporarily as NDP leader to focus on his health - while his prostate cancer is responding well to treatment, he has a new, non-prostate cancer that requires treatment. Wishing him a full recovery. ---

I completely agree. Jack’s voice wasn’t even strong. No, something’s amiss here. I’m at political odds with the NDP but completely respect Mr. Layton. Somehow I don’t think this will end well for him, or the party.
