Seems to me that the applause when Jordan cast his vote was much more subdued than the applause for Jeffries when he cast his. I think the Republicans know Jordan is a dead man walking. ---

The ultimate leverage the anti-Jordanites have is threatening to leave (or vote present, which is functionally the same thing). If ~8-10 of them (I think) do this when a vote is imminent, Jeffries would become speaker. If they really don’t want Jordan, they should tell him they’ll do this for the next vote. ---

Me too. But 20+ is enough. I imagine if he continues on with more rounds of votes it would only get worse. I think the consensus is they want to move on to something else and more people will jump on board with that. After this vote (should there be one), it’s not really about trying to elect Jordan but sending messages. ---

I don’t think that would work. If 8-10 of them did that, it’s HIGHLY likely the rest of the holdouts would switch to Jordan to avoid Jeffries winning. They may hate Jordan, but they all hate Democrats in charge more. ---
