In fairness, it’s been a long time since the board was consistently slow, and frequently down. I remember (as you do) when we had those problems. We haven’t had those problems in a long, long time, and I’m not at all surprised that relatively new members don’t know about them. (They don’t know about Wally either. They don’t even know about the Wally smiley! Time marches on. . .) Remember opening five different threads in separate tabs, in the hopes that by the time you finished reading the first thread, the other four would have loaded? When was the last time you did that? ---

I would like to introduce you to a couple of concepts that are apparently new to you. One, not everyone here is an American. For example, I am not. Two, and most important, is that there are such things as written and recorded history, so that people can avail themselves of information about events that occurred before their own lifetimes, whether a physical lifetime or virtual existence on some Internet medium like a message board. So believe it or not, I am able, through this remarkable means, of having knowledge of things that occurred before I was born, and having knowledge of things that occurred on this board before I joined. Oh, good, because I was deeply concerned about how you would judge me. One actual serious point. I’m not really trying to flame you, **Ramira**. But I do think it’s silly to consider participants on a good discussion board to be “maladjusted” because they’re upset when one of their communications channels is disrupted. We are a sufficiently advanced species to be evolving not just biologically but technologically, and technology advances at a furious pace. You don’t have to embrace all of it – I don’t – but you can’t ignore it, either. ---
