I hope to go there some day. Yay, that’s my last one! I was growing concerned. I’m glad I could participate this time, last time I was in the middle of a move and things were too crazy! ---

Two more in the mail today: An invitation to a You Catch It, You Eat It lobster lunch (Long Sands Beach, York, Maine) from **davida03801** and a Holy Shit I Love Canada! card from **minionkat**. Canada Post has issued Star Trek postcards, and **minionkat** sent me one of “Amok Time.” As the wife was walking in with the mail she said “Someone on the Dope has great taste in postcards.” 😃 Thanks, you two! ---

I got a beautiful card from **Pai325** today - a chihuahua drawn by her nephew! 🙂 Plus it has three stamps: Elvis, Batman and Dobbie from Harry Potter! Perfect! 😃 Thank you very much!! ---

I just wanted to repeat the cards I got. A lovely scene of Colorado, with mountains, a green valley and big round hay bales. Such a gorgeous sky. This was from\*\* Ms. Jinx\*\*. The bright lights of the Seattle skyline, just before full night. I liked the northwest, all three months I was there. This card from **needscoffee**. A similar scene of twilight in San Francisco, with the Trans America builing in the center. This was a “bonus” card from **KarenLingel**. ---

> [@EinsteinsHund](#): > > Just for your amusement, I found the Bravo’s complete [Starschnitt gallery archive](http://www.bravo-archiv.de/auswahl.php?link=starschnittgalerie1.php). I MUST have the one with [Suzi Quatro](http://www.bravo-archiv.de/bravo_starschnitt_suzi_quatro.php), NOW :D. Off to ebay… How cool, thanks! I bet some of those are worth a bit of money now if they are in good shape. ---

I received 2 cards from Baker. One of American Bison, the Kansas state animal, and one of the Kansas State Capitol copper dome in Topeka. Thank you! ---

The last card arrived, great shot of Niagara Falls from Whisky Dickens, who commented that mine had already been received. This was fun! ---

I got a card from\*\* Whiskey Dickens\*\*! It’s a view of Niagra Falls from the Canadian side! I’ve been to Niagra but always saw it from the US side, so this was really cool! Thank you! This means I got cards from four senders, not three. I’ll just enjoy getting more than expected. ---

2 cards arrived from **Baker** on two separate days! Both postcards are of the Kansas state capitol. One of the exterior, which includes the new copper dome and a statue of a Kaw warrior named “Ad Astra.” Is there a story behind why a First Nations warrior has a Latin name? The second postcard is a stunning shot of the interior of the dome. Gleaming and intricate, and just a good shot in general. Thank you! ---
**Author:** ![Baker](https://avatars.discourse-cdn.com/v4/letter/b/bb73d2/32.png) [@Baker](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Baker)\ **Post date:** [June 21, 2016, 1:01am UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/the-great-sdmb-summer-2016-postcard-exchange/755001/158 "2016-06-21T01:01:23Z")
Oh, I don’t think it’s the warrior’s name but the name of the statue as a whole. A fine distinction I admit. His arrow is pointed towards the North Star, and the full motto of the state of Kansas is “Ad astra per aspera”, or, “to the stars through difficulties”. ---

I received my final postcard, from Whiskey Dickens last week. It’s a picture of Niagara Falls looking luminous in the nighttime with colored lights on it. Thank you! ---

Even though I wasn’t officially part of this summer’s postcard exchange, **Helena330** was kind enough to send me two, both from lovely Seattle & gorgeous Puget Sound. (I’ve been to Seattle only briefly ☹ but have ferried around the islands there 🙂 Now I’m off to send her a couple from my side of the U.S. In many ways, both states are similar. Thank you thank you thank you alllllllllllllll ! 😃 [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/the-great-sdmb-summer-2016-postcard-exchange/755001.md?page=7) [Next page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/the-great-sdmb-summer-2016-postcard-exchange/755001.md?page=9)
