In the blues category, there are two: Colin James, and The Downchild Blues Band. There, you’ve got everything you need - almost.

If you’re familiar with Sinatra/Bennett and that style of music, Buble’s autotuned voice sounds pretty clashy with that jazz style. It sounds so off to my ears.

Hey, you’re the musician. I won’t dispute you.

Agreed, I love the music of Stan Rogers. 🙂

I know someone who toured with him.

There’s also the (IMHO) even more legendary Gil Evans, and trumpeter/flugelhorn player Kenny Wheeler.

Rush has my vote. They are Canadian rock n roll royalty.

Neil Young though, really wanted to give him first but he’s a firm second.

A tangent, but Neil Young and Rick James were once in a band together.

> The Mynah Birds was a Canadian R&B band formed in Toronto, Ontario, that was active from 1964 to 1967. This is one of my two favorite trivia facts of all time.

If you’re going to suggest Stan Rogers, then in the category of “Maritime music,” we should add the Barra Macneils, Great Big Sea, Natalie McMaster, John Allen Cameron, the Irish Descendants, and the Rankin Family.

Oh, and John McDermott. Man, what a beautiful tenor voice.

I know that this stuff is not to everybody’s taste, but they are Canadian and very popular with many in the Atlantic provinces.
