From _The Twelve Chairs_ by Mel Brooks, spoken by Dom DeLouise:

“Ya, ya ya! Ya, ya, ya!”

{pause}

“Oh, Boys…?”

And:

“Epilepsy, my friends! The same disease that struck down our beloved Dostoyevsky! Give so he might live! Give til it hurts!”

_“Well you’re pretty sure of yourself, ain’t ya Virgil?
Virgil. That’s a funny name for a negro boy who comes from Philadelphia! What do they call you up there?”_

“They call me MISTER TIBBS!”\*\*\*

From \* “In the Heat of the Night”\* with Sidney Poitier as Detective Virgil Tibbs, and Rod Steiger as Sheriff Gillespie.

Got it.

See, that’s a not a great line at all. It’s a great scene, but taken out of context, it’s meaningless.

From Homer vs Dignity:

Homer has hung on to some money at the end of an episode for once, and Lisa is gently trying to prod him into using it for charitable purposes.

Lisa: “You know, Dad, there are a lot of poor children out there…”

Slow, slow comprehension crawls over Homer’s face.

Homer: “I see what you’re saying, Lisa. … I should … buy …a…gun.”

Reminds me of another of my favorite Simpson’s lines;

Lisa is at a jazz concert, and after the show a man sitting near her is grumbling with disappointment. And Lisa says something like, “You also have to listen to the notes she _didn’t_ play.” And the man replies, “I couldda done _that_ at home.”

From **The Big Lebowski** :

Maude and The Dude are watching the beginning of “Logjammin’”, a cheap porno.

\*(In “Logjammin’”) Karl Hungus, cable repairman at the door: “My dispatcher says there’s something wrong with the cable?”

(In “Logjammin’”) Bunny Lajoya: “Yea, come on in.”\*

…snip…

Maude, with disdain: “The story is ludicrous… Lord. You can imagine where it goes from here.”

The Dude: …“He fixes the cable?”

Another one from The Simpsons:

Bart is is sitting in a biology class, and speaks enthusiastically about genetic engineering producing a money-human hybrid to serve his needs as an unquestioning slave. Mrs Krabapple tells him to forget it because to produce such a creature woiuld be to play God.

**Bart: "God, schmod. I want my monkey-boy!"**

That’s exactly how I feel about the whole genetic engineering debate. I want to _see_ some of these wonders before I die, so get on with it!
