Bumped for the comparison with the _new_ list- their reader’s choice. [Guardian readers’ top 100 novels of all time](https://www.theguardian.com/books/ng-interactive/2026/jun/06/readers-top-100-novels-of-all-time) A fair degree of overlap and I suspect some were chosen more on the basis of seeing the previous list and thinking ‘That’s not even that author’s best novel!’. I think I’ve read 22 of the original list and 29 of the readers’ choice list, and abandoned 2 others part way through (though _Moby Dick_ was possibly a result of trying to read it as a young teen while sick at my grandpa’s house with a rotten headache, wrong book wrong time)… ---
