Perhaps we could share this charming art form. Please, try to keep comments to a minimum. It is more important to be sincere, than artistic. Three lines, Five syllables. (a first view of the “moment”) Seven syllables (the contrast) Five syllables (the unification) A traditional example from a Japanese poet: \ \

“There go fireflies!” I want to cry out aloud. But I am alone. **Issa** \ \ The archtype: by Matsuo Basho, the most famous haiku of all. The tradition does usually include a reference to the season, and pastoral scenes predominate Japanese Haiku. This is not Japanese Haiku. It is our moment we savor, happening to us. \ \
