I’d rather the random person reading through the Pit who isn’t familiar with **Scylla’s** posting history doesn’t think “Hey, that sounds about right. Those lucky disabled bastards!”. There is an interesting concept here alongside the Viper fetish, about our weird prejudices, and those times when you have these irrational reactions that you know are petty and small, but there it is, that was your first thought. But if take that reaction of mine, type it up a persuasive little story about why it’s ok to be that way (without a last paragraph such as the above), and then sit back to watch the reaction, I’d expect to get, oh, just about this thread. Even if I come back after 2 hours and post an “I’m not going to explain” explanation that I actually have nothing against the group in the OP… ---

Minty, I agree. You know what I just saw in the parking lot? A BMW with the Houston B’nai temple licence frame. Am I a bigot for thinking Jews should only drive non-german cars? Or at least shitty ones. I think he must have converted, possibly to buy the car. It really fucks with my world when I don’t know whether to envy someone or pity them based on what I notice about their material possessions in the parking lot of Arby’s. Does this make me a bad man? In this thread, we see him envious over something that someone else owns. He decides if they deserve to have it or not, based on their status as a handicapped person. Now, Scylla attempted initially to pose this as one of his sarcastic threads. It soon became evident to far more than just myself that this was some hardcore envy. Even if you had the Viper, you could not park there, Scylla. For whatever reason, that person has the credentials to park in the handicapped space. You do not. Although you might have a handicap after all now that I think of it. But I really do not think they give out the placards for being emotionally stunted. ---

how many “scylla haters” are in this thread? What constitutes a “scylla hater”? Is there strict guidelines? a membership card? a secret decoder ring? scylla acts like an ass and gets called. he refuses and does a martyr act. you can do one of the following things. 1. Call him on it 2. ignore his threads or 3. adopt a groundhog. its that simple. And if this thread is not about being handicapped, then why is the word “handicapped” so prominent in the title? ---

Oh, just wanted to add that personally I’m glad Scylla stuck around as far as he has, his responses have generally clarified what he’s saying, tone notwithstanding. Now I’m very clear on the bits I disagree with and have already said what I have to say about them. My previous post was more a defense of “the pile-on” than an attempt to perpetuate this one. It hits page 3, you see a lot of people jump in to be peacemakers, or to cluck their tongues at the bad language and tempers that get raised. OTOH I’ve always felt that discussions (or arguments) should continue until everyone’s done communicating (or yelling), or everyone’s given up. (why yes, one of my personal quirks is getting even more pissed off when someone tries to avoid an argument, how did you guess? ) Screw this “let’s be nice, this is too much for one guy”. The argument is not the relationship entire, the position is not the person entire, and I like to think everyone here can take their arguments to the bitter end. Hey, trolls leave the boards. Regulars just get some intresting new scars to freak out the next generation of newbies with.
