Back from erranding - I made the stop at the post office, then a quick grocery stop. I was going to get cherries, but they only had one bag left and it was too huge, plus I’m leery of the last of anything. So no cherries. \*\*FCD \*\*just called - he’s in SC. According to Google Maps, he’s about 8 hours away. So we shall see. Gonna have some lunch, then do some towels. Then tidy. Ugh - I don’t like to tidy. 😛 ---

**Cheryl,** I am so sorry about **Wallflower**. Peace and strength to you and her family. **Swampy,** I honestly don’t believe in any of those work from home “opportunities”. I view them all as scams. In order to build up “esprit de corps” they’re trying to do all sorts of silly and rather stupid things here too. I am not participating in any of them. They did have the sense to cancel the Dining In. It would have cost $45.00 per person for someone in my grade bracket. Let’s see here, you want me to spend nearly $100.00 for bad food, AND you’ve furloughed me. I think not. They cancelled it because not enough people had purchased tickets. Ya _think??!!_ Today is my Friday and tomorrow is my furlough day. However, tomorrow will be busy. I need to get Brandi a booster shot and take copies of her and Polar’s shot records to the place we will be boarding them next weekend. I have other errands to run as well. I still haven’t purchased anything to wear to my daughter’s wedding and it’s coming up next weekend. Time flies!! ---

All righty. I just finished hemming and ironing 10 towels. Time to start stenciling. \*\*Taters \*\*- I heard from a former coworker in FL who’s also among the furloughed. He said SECDEF came to visit the Depot, but they kept him away from the working class. He just schmoozed with management. Yeah, that’ll give him an accurate picture of how the furlough is affecting the workforce. :rolleyes: Even tho I haven’t worked there in over 9 years, I know how the management is - they keep promoting their own kind: ass-kissers, politicians, and liars. My friend was telling me about who’s been promoted since I left, and it’s holding true. If you work hard and do the best job you can, that’s all you’ll ever do. Forget getting ahead… Sorry. Even after being gone so long, that place can still piss me off!!! :smack: ---

You know how a pet (usually cats, in my experience) will eat straight down through their food, and when encountering the bottom of the bowl (despite the fact that there is still _plenty_ of food piled up against the sides) will immediately go into \*OMG WE’RE ALL GONNA STARVE!!!11!!1! \*mode? That’s what it’s like here when the fax machine toner starts to look a little light. ---

My cat never did that but he did think every time I walked in the kitchen he should get fresh food. Never mind that he still had the bowlful that I just poured 10 seconds ago, if I took one foot step into the living room and turned back in to the kitchen he demanded fresh food. ---

This week I had as close to Sheldon’s “I’m not crazy, my mother had me tested” a moment as I’m ever likely to have. My job’s a bit hard to describe, but let’s simplify the explanation by saying I provide assorted tech support for a program that serves folks with both an intellectual disability _and_ a co-occurring mental health issue. The program director is a well-regarded expert in both areas. She met with us (me, my boss, my grandboss, and a person who has long worked for the university’s institute but only began working on our program this month and thus only met the director recently) on Monday. In the middle of the meeting she makes a sweeping gesture and says “Everyone, including and maybe especially me, who works for this program has a personality disorder.” Then she pauses and looks at me. “Except for you, Shannon. You’re oddly calm. I still don’t know where we found you.” _Maybe she doesn’t know me well enough_, I found myself thinking, _I’ve only worked with her for a year and a half_ - but after a beat she looked at the new person. “Even you. First time I met you I thought, ‘oh, another weirdo’” so I guess she’s into snap judgments after all! So there. I don’t have a personality disorder. My director said so. 😃 ---

Although unless I sneak past him my dog wants to go out every time I get up, and expects a treat as well. I started keeping treats in my room, in a mouse proof container.
