Somebody used the word Hawkeye in another thread in a context I wasn’t familiar with. So I’m curious what context of the word people are most familiar with. ---

Avengers. I assumed it originally meant someone with good vision and aim. I thought it a bit odd Hawkeye Pierce had a superhero name. ---

Avengers normally. Memory might be shoddy, but I think the fan translation of Seiken Densetsu 3 just shortens his name to “Hawk”? Unless it’s from somewhere else in the series or a different translation. I always picked him anyway. ---

Hawkeye’s name comes from the Cooper novel. I voted Mohicans, but I’d have been happier with multiple choices, as the Avenger and the surgeon both come to mind equally swiftly. ---

One of my dermatologists was an ex Air Force Captain; his last name was Pierce so he was automatically a Hawkeye. He had several photographs of himself with the Thunderbirds; all of them were inscribed to Captain Hawkeye Pierce. ---

I went w/ the Avengers option–I know him from the current (or just recently ended, or just about to end) series of standalone comics by Matt Fraction and (sometimes, usually) David Aja, as I generally won’t get near mainstream superhero titles. But anyway, at least I don’t have to pretend I’m not thinking about Hawkguy here in the Hawkguy poll. ---

Avengers and MASH, I’ve known the MASH character for longer but I only learned that both had the same name after moving to the US. For Spain one gets translated, the other one is in a dubbed series. (Avengers Hawkeye = translated as Ojo de Halcón.
