# The "Homer Monkey Thread" question

**elbows** ’ [post](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=14091221&postcount=44) in **Curtis** ’ [servant thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=618598) made realize I have no idea what the joke was supposed to be in **Homer** ’s [ill-fated (but hilarious) thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=37864). I’m guessing he was going for _monkey butler suit dancer_ but I don’t get the punchline.

Anyone?

What punchline? He was simply stating a fact.

I’m pretty sure the punchline was “the OP was really drunk”. I don’t think your going to find a much deeper level of meaning beyond that.

I miss Homer. I like to think he grew out of his drunken, mushroom-fueled posting days so we wouldn’t get monkey butlers and shoehorn butterhorse, but he was neat even without that.

As I recall, there was also a darker side about Mexicans allegedly stealing his stereo.
