Frikkin’ brilliant. The backgrounds and details so lovingly crafted - I agree with you about the song and dance number, though, **Bryan**. Course, I hate musicals in all forms, so I may be a bit biased.

ETA: And of course they decided to take a couch with them on their rescue mission. Why not?

I really loved this episode. For me, since the comeback on FOX, family guy has been very hit or miss. I miss the more structured approach of the earlier seasons. However there are a few episodes that really do stand out from the new season. I think PTV is a pretty good one. The The Freakin FCC song was really good in my opinion. I never liked the whole “I need a Jew” song, and not because I was offended, I just thought it was slow. I also LOVED the “Drunken Irish Dad” song too.

Anyway though some really memorable scenes. I love how they satirized some really funny moments in Star Wars

“Hold Fire, there’s no life forms aboard”
…
“What are we paying by the laser?”
“You don’t make the budget Terry!”

Another good one was the exchange between Lois and Cleveland (R2D2)

Getting upset with the software, “I’m just trying to make an MPEG”
Cleveland, “I’m just trying to get you to calm down and wait a minute”

I also love the hole in the death star was handled.

In General this is what makes me think family guy still has it. I think the guys are a lot better off when referencing things outside of their own world instead of throwing raw meat to the fans.

The evil monkey from Chris’ closet was also in the cantina.

One thing they may have whooshed over my head. In the opening credits when the were talking about Angelina Jolie, at the end they wrote “but I digest…” Obviously that should have been “but I digress…” Was that a reference to something that I missed or was it a genuine mistake?

It was just Peter being stupid. (Since he’s telling the story, we are supposed to assume he wrote the title cards, which makes sense given the bizarre tangents and amusing errors.)

Brilliant episode.

I loved the small stuff. . .

“. . .wretched hive of scum and villainy”
“Hey, my sister lives there.”

* * *

I liked it when the Falcon lands on the rebel base planet and that dude with the “tracker gun” is going “p-too p-too”.

* * *

It was funny when Han calls out Luke, “hey, you only learned about the force three hours ago and you’re getting all high and mighty about it”.

* * *

The dance number was the weakest point of the episode.

I haven’t watched it yet, and don’t know if I will.

Thing is, I hate _Star Wars_, and think that having an entire hour-long parody episode of it (as the season premiere, no less), really sucks. They’ve done more than enough SW jokes as bits on the show, and that’s fine, but did they really need to make a whole _hour_ of them?

Can anyone tell me if this episode is worth watching for someone who may be a big _Family Guy_ fan, but only saw the first half of the original SW movie many years ago, couldn’t stand it, and never went back for more?

Obviously, Lucas gave permission for this episode because of the music, right? And were the space explosions lifted directly from _Star Wars_? Because they looked spot-on to me.

Probably not.

The stuff I found funniest was stuff that you have to be pretty intimate with Star Wars to really get. Like familiar with specific shots to get.

Darth Stewie: “Cant you just put a piece of plywood or something over that hole tomorrow?”

General: “Well yeah, if money’s no object…”

Darth Stewie: “ehhhhhhh…”

General: “We’ll get an estimate”

Darth Stewie: "Yeah, get an estimate first
😃

my girlfriend and I were really expecting to see a couple of boards of plywood nailed over the exhaust port of the Star Destroyers later, only to have the proton torpedos break through them and have people argue about building codes/union labor etc right before they get blown up.

My other favorite part-

Superlaser technician: “So I called management asking about installing a rail here and they said no. You know why? They thought we’d be _leaning_ on it all day!”

If you look carefully as the _Millennium Falcon_ is being pulled in by the Death Star tractor beam, you can see one of the tiny soldiers in the foreground put his arm around another soldier, who shoves him away.

Brian as Chewbacca was great.

I agree the _Dirty Dancing_ musical bit went on waaaaaaaay too long. Otherwise it was a lot of fun.

Two of the funniest bits of the episode. The Han bit was by far the best. I had never thought of that in al my years of watching Star Wars.

I had seen the 10 minute preview, but there was a ton of other great moments not in the clip.

- Luke killing Danny Elfman!
- I’m Han Solo. The only actor’s whose career will not suffer.
- The Rush Limabaugh bits (that was really him?). I remember Hoth, but what was the other rant?
\*“She said No. Do we still blow it up?”
- Your home planet of Alderann. OH! Too soon?
- Meg as the garbage monster was awesome, but where was Joe? They included the gay guy, the mentally handicapped guy from work, Mayor West, and the Canadian “Bone my girlfriend” guy, but not Joe?
- Speaking of Meg, was the “tell the story of when I was born” a reference to the Simpson flashback episodes? The TV going out DID act as the catalyst for one flashback episode. I’m sure we will see that show up in a You Tube “Family Guy Rips Off the Simpsons” montage.
- The Jawas with the Grey Poupon
- Watto and the Bug Zapper

Good stuff.

I dunno. A shot-for-shot remake of “Star Wars” sounds like something Peter Griffin would think was wicked cool and I’d think that the guys from “Family Guy” would realize that, if Peter thinks it’s a good idea, it isn’t.

Thumb sorta up because it was a total geekfest, but sorta down because it dragged whenever they were showing off how they could duplicate shots from the movie. And the mixture of visual styles were jarring. DRAW the bloody explosions. Don’t just lift them from a “Star Wars” DVD.

Some of the jokes fell flat for me, but then again, that’s Family Guy for you. (A Gray Poupon joke? Really?)

But, all in all, the show was great. The writers really understood the audience that would appreciate this episode.

As soon as I saw Red Foxx, I _knew_ he was doomed as they had to get the expected “I’m Comin, 'Lizabeth!” gag in

I thought this was a great episode, loved the cameos in the Cantina bar (Roger, Bender, the Xenomorph from the “Alien(s)” series), Watto and the Bug Zapper, the Dr. Who time/space vortex, and the squabbling match between Chris and Peter about the RC Star Wars episode (even funnier because Seth McFarlane voiced Palpatine in the RC ep)

The John Williams/Danny Elfman gag made this composer die laughing. Like, fall off the couch laughing.

Well, the whole damned episode had the NoFair household in stitches. The dogs approved of Brian as Chewbacca, of course. And Herbert-The-Pervert? Brilliant. Simply Brilliant. (Also? Poor Meg!)
