You should see what’s going on down here… A lot of people are pretty pissed off, but you know what? it doesn’t really matter. The guy paid $700 million for his team and can name it whatever he wants, and the fans will only care if they win or lose… I think the logo is pretty cool, but my vote was for the “Toros” - I think that would go well with the current logo. BTW - they can’t use “Oilers” because Bud Adams took that name with him when he went to Tennessee and refuses to give it up. I don’t understand how it works, but they just can’t use the name. A lot of people here wouldn’t like that anyway because they hated Adams and want their “own” team. ---

Well, at least it’s the Utah Jazz and not the Utah Utahns. I always thought that it should be the Tennessee Fiddlers. I don’t know why, but for the longest time I honestly believed that was their name. ---

As a Texan, I should probably take up for them, but I’m a Vikings fan and have wished bad things on the Cowboys for years. I’m going to divide a little bit of that hate off and send it Houston’s way. The Texans. Damn, some people just don’t learn. ---

During the back slapping party yesterday downtown, the local news provider was asking every schmuck on the street “what do you think of the new name?” One guy actually looked at the camera and said, “it sucks!”. The newsboy quickly walked away trying to pretend it never happened. I laughed long and loud. How many people in Houston don’t have basic health care or housing? And we NEED a football team? And a new arena for the crappy basketball team? ---

As a proud Texan, even I find “Texans” rather blah. I would have been more impressed if it had been the Houston Tex- **i** -ans - Texians being the name applied to residents of Texas circa 1836. That would have evoked an image of rough and tough frontiersmen, battling to defend their homes, fighting to overthrow a tyranical ruler, etc. You know, the whole “Republic of Texas - Remember the Alamo” legend. But the [logo](http://www.houstontexans.com/) is pretty cool. ---

BTW, all the contending names either had some kind of Old-West theme or oilfield theme. Personally, I think it might have been neat to pick some kind of vaguely NASA-related one to keep in line with the rest of the pro teams- Astros, Rockets, Aeros… ---
