I had an interesting paper chase today. **PWAISDN** found out he’s eligible to apply for a small business grant yesterday. Only catch is the application deadline is midnight today, so a scramble to get the necessary online accounts set up, scan documents, get things signed and uploaded, etc. ensued. I got it all done, now it’s up to the grant process to see if he gets one. Fingers are crossed. ---

Thirdly, the help available would be a week or so at most, certainly not months, and it’d mean moving all my stuff there and trying to find somewhere else to put it (during a national lockdown, while I’m trying to start a new job, and finding accommodation). Lastly, I’ve already signed a contract and paid a large deposit- 5 weeks rent- if I drop out now, I don’t get that back. If they screw up, I do. ---

Morning, mumpers! It’s wet and miserable here, further north of me I have friends with a lot of snow. The weather app says “This ain’t cold. According to the Arctic, this is a fucking heatwave” and says I will have 4C/39F up to 7C/45F to look forward to, were I fool enough to venture out into the plague-filled wastelands. **nut** sorry to hear that rental property is so scarce and it’s all been such a pain for you. Hope it works out in the end! I am at irk, it is irksome. Lots of scrappy little jobs to do and no motivation to start any of them because I have a nasty feeling there are a lot of cans of worms out there waiting for me to open them. Can I blag the day off and spend it with my head in a book? I wish! ---

Lots will be going on today. I have at least 3 jungle deliveries due, plus a tech from the local cable company will be dropping off a new modem.Since I’m going to internet only, the modem I have needs to go back, as well as the digital converters. The new modem has a built-in wifi and a couple of other gizmos that I didn’t quite understand, but I’ll find out when they get here. Plus I need to call LaZBoy and cancel my service appointment, and **FCD** wants help in the shop with something. And I think I might start out by running to the other Food Lion to check out their chuck roasts. And I need to start getting all our tax stuff together. So, yeah, insane day. Daughter will be coming over this weekend to, among other things, update her resume. She’s applying for a job at the Leonardtown Library as librarian/teen resource specialist (or something like that.) It pays better than her teaching gig, has benefits, but will require occasional Saturdays and evening hours. Still, fingers crossed. Another start in the mid-20s, but we might see 50 this afternoon, which would be nice. Happy Thursday! ---

Morning. I’ll admit to that much. “Good” will have to wait a bit. There I was, enjoying that drowsy state before you completely wake up, all nice and warm and snug in my bed when Pixel decided that rather than throw up on the bed (she knows that tends to make me peevish) she would avoid trouble and throw up ON ME! So here I am, up an hour before any decent person should be up. Shower taken, sheets in the wash, Pixel forgiven and given skritches, lottery tickets checked and discarded, waiting for my cocoa to cool enough to drink. I do believe my students may find me a bit testy this morning. Hope everybody else’s day goes better than mine has started! ---

I scored a really nice chuck roast at the other Food Lion, and it was big enough for me to cut it in half, so 2 meals! Huzzah! First delivery of the day came while I was out - my New Balance sneaks and some filters for the critter fountain. I’m sure there’s a reason they don’t try to get everything going to the same address delivered at the same time, but I don’t dare try to understand the workings of the US Postal Service. Just glad to have the first of my stuff. Pending modem delivery, I think I’ll head down to tread the mill… after I scoop the cat box, of course. 'Cause I kinda forgot to do it yesterday - shame on me! And there might be some stuff that needs to be run thru the wash - easily done while I’m down there. Onward! ---

Not that I don’t appreciate good wine, but table wine doesn’t need to be great. Yellow Tail, or the Kirkland cab for $7.99 for 1.5 l, is perfectly adequate. ---

**FCM** - Somebody else who wears New Balance! They’re the only company that reliably makes EEE width in the running shoes I like. Donald Duck has nothing on me, foot-wise. Also thanks for the reminder - the litter boxes _really_ needed scooping. **Johnny** - Given that my table wine usually comes in a box, I’d never dis someone for drinking Yellow Tail. Black Box makes a surprisingly decent Malbec, and Bota Box has an Old Vine Zinfandel that I really like. ---

I’d been wearing Skechers mostly recently, but I didn’t like any of their current offerings. And the ones I have are pretty worn - one pair is painful for any amount of walking so they’re destined for the trash. I’d had New Balance eons ago, so I decided to give 'em another try, and I’m really pleased with these. Plus they’re white - really white - unlike the grayish, torn, worn pair I wore yesterday. I have a box o’ burgundy in the fridge, but it’s just for cooking. I’d rather drink white wine on the rare occasion I have some. Just finished off a bottle of Chardonnay that was pretty good. I need to look for something on the sweeter side, but not as sweet as moscato. ---

I am here. Forcing myself to type this because last night a friend pointed out how unhealthy it is for me to withdraw completely when I’m in this much emotional pain. He’s the only one who knows what I’m going through. It’s complicated, and I’m a very private person. Word is my Someone Very Dear is comatose now. I still don’t want to go into specifics. I’m showering, brushing my teeth, getting dressed, drinking water. Last night I forced down a bowl of soup because I hadn’t eaten since lunch the day before. Today the idea of eating is abhorrent. Sometimes I get through an hour without crying. It’s sunny outside. I’m going to try to force myself to go out for a walk later. So you see, I’m making myself do all the right things. I hope nobody else calls for a few days. I can’t explain why I’ve been hit so hard, and it takes a lot of energy to pretend I’m fine. Can’t respond to posts, but I’ve read them all. Glad you’re all here. ---
