I won’t get into any argument about whether or not you want to have children- that is a personal choice and there are far more factors involved than financial. They can provide a lot of happiness and a share of grief and disappointment. One thing I would disagree with is that they can call an ambulance if you are having a heart attack or whatever- by that age your kids are pretty likely to have left home anyway. (And if they haven’t you will probably be perpetually broke and grateful for a heart attack!).
I don’t have lots of fancy toys- I owned a boat once and realised I was never a great sailor and I didn’t want the maintenance, costs and other things such as having a larger car to tow it. These days my toys are computers or a decent television. My biggest pitfall is travel- and I don’t want to change that.
I think this would be a shorter thread if you asked if anyone has managed to get ahead.
