MELD scores range from a low of 6 to a high of 45, with the average liver transplant happening on someone that drew 24. I scored an 8. Harrumph. I knew I’d be low because I’m not that sick yet, but my guess was 10ish. Translation: come back when you turn yellow… This does leave me in a good position for getting the liver fixed, though. ---

Happy Thorsday! It’s a chilly 36 degrees out with a high of 44 predicted. I have a dr appt today, down in the armpit. I’ll find out if I can go off blood thinners long enough to have surgery. Then I meet with the other doctor on Moonday to talk about surgery. I hate to get surgery this month, however my deductible has been met for the year so it would make sense to do it now, if I can. I’m going to drive down and back today, I may stop at my mothers to pick up a few things to bring back but I’m not staying over. Then I go back down on Sunday to spend the night because my Moonday appt is so early in the morning. ---

I find it amazin’ how some folks are just _soooooo_ anxious to be a part of our services here at irk, that they call multiple times per week. Then, when I can make it happen, these same folks cannot be bothered to return a phone call. We shall see if the “if I don’t hear from you by two p.m. this afternoon, I will assume you are no longer interested and the position will be offered to someone else and you’re name removed from the waiting list” messages I’ve been leavin’ will prompt action. Do try to contain the envy you’re feelin’ because you are not me. ---

Error 503 Service Unavailable Service Unavailable Guru Meditation: XID: 837193171 Varnish cache server This is an error message I receive from time to time for one of the many irk related programs I deal with on a daily basis. I have, of course, no idea what any of it means. What I get out of it is I should meditate on “XID: 837193171”, which does not seem very meditative, or go varnish the cache server, which sounds messy. ---

Not only did they have great stuff (especially baked goods) but you never knew when the “60 Minutes” crew would show up for the latest expose’. Did three extra hours yesterday and feel it a bit the AM. Didn’t realize how out of shape I was getting. Still enjoying the job; some folks pay to go to the gym – I’m getting paid for doing the same basic thing! ---

**Nuts** , glad to hear about the post office gig. If your regular security work isn’t giving you enough hours, your boss oughtn’t to complain! Of course, people are rarely so reasonable ☹ Yum, molasses cookies, **EmilyG**. Dunked or undunked, those are top-notch. I’m biting my virtual nails today. Found out that, starting in January, if we don’t claim Stepkid Two on our taxes, she will lose eligibility for her (full) tuition remission at my university (which she currently attends) - to the tune of about $90,000 over the next 3 years. Unfortunately, her mama is bound to kick up an almighty fuss over us getting to claim Stepkid 2, who pays out of pocket for her own college expenses. Mama may not agree to the tax claiming even if ZombieSpouse plays fair and discloses the new strictures to negotiate the deal. I’m really worried that Stepkid 2 is about to get majorly screwed - she definitely cannot afford 90K in loans if her parents won’t focus more on her welfare than their spite. ☹ I know Stepkid 2 is 20, and how ZombieSpouse and Ex handle this is their decision, but it’s hard to just sit by and watch it happen. :eek: ---

Yay, **nuts** on the post office gig! {{{Gordie}}} One more day of rolling out of bed at 5:15 a.m. I’m still getting the sleeping hours squared back up. Last night, just as I drifted off, my neighbor across the hall started her pounding on the floor for imaginary noise coming from downstairs (this has happened before when I was actually downstairs visiting that neighbor - there was no TV or radio even playing), then slamming her door to run downstairs and pound on his and reverse the process. Once again, I texted the landlord. :mad: ---

I’m already going on week 2.2 and finding myself not liking the color tan as much as I used to but ours is mostly boxes. Pick-off and sorting are fun but waterspiders (wrapping the pallets in plastic) is not for backs as aged as mine. I got so damn lucky – fired and then hired here like 4 days later. Yeah, it may just be until the end of January but its a start-up facility and I figure its a foot in the door. ---

It’s amazin’ what a semi-ugly vm threat can do. All but one of the folks who received the vm I mentioned earlier have responded.
