I’m 70 and cannot remember being asked to get out of my car.
In recent years and decades (sorry, cannot narrow it down further), I see on the side of the road, much more frequently, a stopped car boxed in at either end by a police vehicle. This is per modern police training to box in a car, before asking the driver to get out, so as to reduce chances of getting into a high speed chase. This is the training I have read ICE agents did NOT get before being tasked to do car stops last year. As a result we have nine instances of ICE officers shooting into moving vehicles since September.
As for whether Renee Nicole Good was given contradictory direction as to stay in the car or get out, here is what public radio reported:
If the eyewitness is correct, and if her video is also valid, the order to drive away was given before the order to get out. How far before? We don’t know. It could have been a lot before, or it could have been a second or two.
Based on what I read and see here and elsewhere, it is horrible that administration officials are calling the victim a domestic terrorist. They demonstrate zero desire to learn from the tragedy so it does not happen again. A rush to judgement against Noem and Trump is justified. A rush to judgment against the officer is, in my view, a mistake.
In the short video from iiandyiiii there is no time stamp but you can clearly hear ICE agents yelling “get out of the car” “get out of the fucking car”.

ICE is being staffed by people who couldn’t hack it in the military, or a real police force, because they’re desperate for bodies and they’re taking the equivalent of McNamara’s Morons as long as they can spout the right catch phrases.
I haven’t seen a video confirming this statement. If they were in fact told to leave then they clearly ignored it. Her wife is shown videoing the officer.
There is no conflict in the video’s I’ve linked that she was told to get out of the car. That was her last instructions from the Agents.
And as has been previously pointed out in this thread, ICE has no authority to search US citizens or arrest them, unless there’s probable cause to believe they’re harboring undocumented individuals. To my mind that means a citizen is well within their rights to leave the area when confronted by ICE. This is not the same as a traffic stop by an LEO.
The wife standing outside of the car? By default they weren’t leaving because you can see the verbal exchange Good and her wife were engaged in. They clearly were not leaving at the time Good was instructed to get out of the car.
Which didn’t happen and wasn’t going to happen. And even if it was, a much more effective means of self-defense would have been not standing in front of a moving vehicle.
I looked at your video and if it picked up all the audio, any order – heard by an eyewitness – to drive away was given at least 20 seconds before the order to get out of the car. The eyewitness needs to be asked about this. The audio may need enhancement.
Is audio-video evidence better than eyewitness testimony? Sure. But the investigation, which Tom Homan said would happen and then was overruled on, should consider all possibilities.
These videos could be of value in police training. Show the videos and then ask the cadets, based on what they already learned, what was done wrong. There are many items to discuss.
It’s difficult to get trainees when there is a politically motivated campaign to harass them. ICE has been around in 2002 but suddenly deporting illegal aliens is political.
They were leaving and they left – her wife got back into the car and they tried to leave. They ignored the instruction from the murderer, likely because they were afraid if they stayed he would murder them. This fear was proven legitimate – he did indeed commit murder, despite never being in any significant danger. The murderer, in fact, increased the danger to everyone by shooting her and thus causing the vehicle to lose control.
So your premise is that a protestor on the sidewalk yelling for her to leave would be confused with an Agent close by yelling at her to exit the vehicle? All this while she is TALKING to an agent as well as her wife.
