How about you show us the video of that happening. It seems most of us haven’t seen that one.
Yeah, that sounds terrifying. As I’ve mentioned, I don’t want to watch the video because it features a woman being shot in the head.
But considering the above descriptions, it sounds like the video, prior to the trigger pull, is simply terrifying.

Regarding the first shot, I don’t believe for a moment that Good was trying to run down the officer. This is pure fiction created by Trump and his lackeys. But even if she had been, killing the driver when the car was already close enough to touch him, or nearly so, would have accomplished nothing, so the self-defense argument is useless here.
But aside from all that, firing at her through the side window as she was going past is just a clear case of murder, and as you say, is indefensible, even if some kind of defense could be fabricated for the first shot.
There was a case here a few years ago where a police officer shot and killed a man who was coming at him with a knife. The first shot(s) brought the man down and were considered justifiable self-defense. But the officer kept firing after the man was on the ground and posed no further threat. For that, he was charged and convicted of murder. That seemed to me like justice was served. There will be no justice here, at least not while Trump and his lackeys are in power.

Seems to be considerable argument going on here 400+ posts in, but I’m not sure exactly what is being argued. Has anyone said Good deserved to be shot? How many posters have defended the shooter? I’m thinking 1.
Maybe only one here—but the position ‘she tried to kill him with her car, so shooting her was self-defense and therefore justified’ is fully established on the right.
It matters. The choice to ignore the evidence of the videos has been sanctified by the President, Vice President, and all their associates. Their official position is that any ICE officer can claim ‘self-defense’ after shooting anyone. “Absolute immunity,” they’re calling it, despite the fact that there is no support for it in either the U.S. Code or in any SCOTUS decision.
That doesn’t mean they have some sort of universal jurisdiction over the entire country, or the right to make an arrest of this woman.. I’m pretty sure the reason they were recording license plates (instead of running them on their computers, like law enforcement officers would typically do) was so they could report these people to the actual cops.
I (briefly) tried to find it but couldn’t, but I remember a comedian from the 90s/early 00s making a comment along the lines of “they say cops have to make split second decisions in high stress situations …we [the detained person] also have to make split second decisions in a high stress situation, but with a gun pointed at us”.
The Wall Street Journal documents what’s becoming a pattern; ICE gangsters box in unarmed people with cars, prevent them from fleeing, then use their attempts to escape to justify murdering them.

This is Fox News fulfilling its primary mission of disseminating Republican lies, even the most blatant ones from the liar-in-chief. I would expect no less from them. This is a large part of the reason that the country is so fucked – the majority of voters aren’t evil, just tragically misinformed.
Having firmly established that, they’ve moved on to Rachel’s wife. “The algorithm” fed me a post calling for her to be arrested as an accomplice to attempted murder for telling Rachel to leave.
Also while yes we need police, we also need them to not be these police. Armed bigoted thugs are going to act like armed bigoted thugs no matter what the rules say or don’t say. We need people who will do the job of enforcing the law and keeping the peace; not taking every possible opportunity to bully, rob and attack people.
Cops think that a car is assumed to be a murder weapon, and if you drive without permission, they have the right to execute you because they felt vewwy afwaid. It has to stop. Police need to learn the survival skill of not standing in front of a moving car, and moving out of the way if it does move unexpectedly. You know, like pedestrians, cyclists, and everybody else. Use your noggin, Barney Fife.
Of course this isn’t a misunderstanding. ICE has a pattern of doing this, jumping in front of cars to box them in, hoping the car will move, so they’ll have a pretext to murder the occupants.
What makes this whole thing even more egregious is if you propose any kind of policy that limits the rights of drivers… whether it’s walkable cities, consumption tolls, bike lanes, transit, conservatives are like “how dare you abridge the rights of our wheeled freedom boxes, driving a car is a sacred and holy American right.” But if you drive a little funny they’ll execute you and claim you’re the one who started it. It’s madness.

Why is he carrying a cell phone and recording? Why isn’t he wearing a body cam? Seems like a very odd thing for an On duty officer to be doing. Was he perhaps looking for some juicy content?
