Isn’t it a trade off though? As in, inhaling smoke can’t be much better for your lungs in the long term than moderate alcohol consumption is for your liver?

I think the people who mention the “cannabis closet” are spot-on. Most of the identifiable “pot smokers” in high school and college would have been full-bore alcoholics and more like bums and winos than Jay or Silent Bob.

Most everyone else fired it up at parties on occasion, but didn’t do it non-stop, and their lives didn’t revolve around it. Now that they’re older, I’m sure they still do it on occasion, but it’s not the focus of their lives- they just fire up a joint instead of having a beer or glass of wine in the evening.

That, and one has less fear of a weed misdemeanor when it’s just their lives on the line. A lot of things may go by the wayside (or be scaled back dramatically) when one has kids.
