Happy Birthday, jarbaby! Since you asked for indulgence, I shall give it to you. Not a word from me in the defense of Brett Favre. I shall only offer the following tangentally related tidbits: 1. I was on Vicodin after having wrist surgery (gots me a six inch steel plate in there now) and all I can say is. “Whoa baby.” If I had Favre’s money, I’d buy me an island and just sit around enjoying the Vicodin buzz for the rest of my days. 2. One’s favorite sports figures are generally defined in childhood, so even though I like Brett he still can’t replace my fondness for Lynn Dickey. 3. Like you, I am capable of bile-spiting hate. You think Favre gets media blowjobs? I had to listen to every talking head in sports annoint John Fucking Elway the second coming of Christ after the Broncos beat the Packers in the Superbowl. I never liked him before, but after that I couldn’t even stand the sight of him. To this day I can’t watch Coors commercials. To my list I will add Randy “If it aint about me, I aint trying” Moss, Chris “I just want to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for that touchdown and for making me an arrogant whiner” Carter, and Michael Irvin. Yeah, I know he’s out of football. I still hate him. 4. The Bears gave me a warm tingly feeling this Sunday by beating the Vikings. God bless their little hearts. ---

jarbabyj - Happy B-day! Yeah, you can rag on Farve, birthday or no birthday. Everyone should get a bit ‘o critique, no matter who they are. Farve may be good at what he does, but football is a team sport, and no man can be that good all by himself - you need a team that good to be that good.
