It looks like today’s outage lasted just over 8 hours. Did the cleaners unplug the server? Did the daily reboot go glitchy? Or did the mods/admins bribe Jerrythetechgod™ to tweak the system so they could take a “mental health day”? ---

Without knowing any more than anyone else who’s not involved in the day-to-day… It seemed to me like we had a rather sudden influx of socks/trolls all at once this morning/afternoon. Was this a planned outage (for purging purposes) or some type of DoS attack on the server? [sub]There were also a metric buttload of new “long” usernames all at once, mostly in response to the thread dealing with that very subject… Someone submit a name that blew the circuit breakers, mebbe?[/sub] ---

I’m not sure what happened. I’m sure either Tuba or Jerry will weigh in later to tell what went down. For now, it seems to be purring along quite nicely. I’m sure it’ll explode once I hit submit. 🙂 ---

It’s always so strange when people blame a few socks with a dozen posts total for some slowdown. Just because socks are “bad” doesn’t give them special powers. (Except their x-ray vision can see what’s in the pockets of your cargo pants 😉 )
