Good news. There were concerns that New Zealand would have to extradite Arsehead from the United States, a process which could take anything up to several years, depending on legal appeals, etc. Now it seems the Americans are happy to _deport_ him as an illegal alien, rather than have him extradited. The Kiwis could potentially have their mitts on him in [two weeks!](http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/us-rush-to-deport-pumpkins-father/2008/03/01/1204227048712.html) ---

If they just stick him on a plane for violating immigration, as far as I’m aware he would be free - at least while he was on the plane - until he landed in in NZ and was arrested by the cops here. God knows what the airline would make of that, too. Any lawyers here want to clarify the legal position? ---

I don’t know if he is traveling under arrest or not, but there is nothing to prevent the police in NZ from sending a couple of very large burly officers to the US, and set them up on the very same return flight. Furthermore, I would be more than willing to bet the airline would be happy to give these officers the seats on either side of him. ---
