My first retirement blizzard! I am not sure when it started, but I was up at 5.00am and it has been snowing hard ever since. A year ago when I decided to set my retirement date a coworker asked me when. I told him that I was not going to work through another winter. My company car was a 2014 Nissan minivan (whatever you do, stay away from this vehicle) and was terrible in the snow. My comment was, “One day I will wake up to a snowstorm. I will look out the window, pour myself another cup of coffee, sit back in my pajamas and think of you guys.” ---

Especially for the frozen wasteland of Née-brash-kah ( **hippie** lives 60 miles down the interstate from me). That’s way I hied myself over to Harriet’s last so I could sleep in a warm bed and wake up where they needed Grandma to be. There’s a very cooperative Keurig coffeemaker just downstairs. Dear SIL made us eggs and pancakes for breakfast, then carried a plate of them up to his bride, still snuggled under the covers. He’s keeper. ---

Howdy. Errands have been run and the car’s gas tank filled to boot (502 miles since last fillup, counting the trip back from Illinois). Kroger didn’t have half-gallons of skim so got 2 quart bottles instead, so I can still make the tough decisions… **BBBoo** , how long have they been married? If it’s over 5 years, then I concur. **hippy** , not to many blizzards in North Ali-bama, but it is nice to get up to use the bathroom at 5am knowing I can return to the covers and sleep on. **shoe** , I’ve considered hiring a cleaning service, I hate to mop and sweep, wonder what a weekly service of that type would cost…Glad the rats like it, how about Monkey? **talky** , while Stockholm is a very nice place to visit, next dream visit Norway…been there and it’s beautiful. Ok, nothing much on the schedule now, will do some internettin’ and then…maybe…do some housework. All y’all take care. ---

On occasion, I’ll have Alexa play a free Amazon station for background, but rarely. When we drove to FL and back for Thanksgiving, I felt like we kept hearing the same songs over and over again - how is it the entire decade of the 70s apparently only produced a few dozen songs? 🙄 Sirius seems to have a very limited selection for each of its stations - even the comedy channels. I can get the local classical public radio station for the rare occasions when I have errands to run, or I can pull out my satchel of CDs. I’ve got an old hunk of carpet down on the floor defining Roxy’s play area. I’m about to fill the carpet steamer with the hottest water I can manage in the hopes of flattening the bumps from being stored in the attic for 16 years. Here’s hoping… ---

It’s supposed to rain pretty heavily today, but so far, there are just grim, stodgy clouds. They’ve got a job to do but don’t know what it is and are too bored to do it. **shoe** , I like cleaning, but I had to get a cleaning service because I can’t see most dirt. I was cleaning my floors by feel, and it wasn’t working so great. I couldn’t afford regular services, but I was incredibly lucky and found someone who loves cleaning and charges about 1/4th of the going rate. She comes over (masked, never in same room as I am) every 2 weeks. In fact, she’s here now, vacuuming away. 🙂 I don’t know what the going rate is where you are, but if you could get someone in to do a thorough cleaning now and then, say, once a month, that’d surely help. Yay for Wormfest 2020! As a child I had two frogs I had to feed live mealworms. (They wouldn’t eat anything that didn’t move.) I can still remember that mealworm smell. I’m guessing the freeze-dried variety have no scent. Imagine working in a mealworm freeze-drying facility. So fifty bucks, at least, as a one-off payment, to have someone else get rid of grime for you. Last time I did this, I left her to do her thing … walked back into the kitchen to find her scrubbing the windows. Which was fine … more importantly, she demonstrated how the windows _flip open from underneath_ for cleaning. I’d have never known. She told me it was how people keep their windows clean without having to go outside in the snow. I didn’t have the heart to tell her I had no idea people washed windows at all. Let alone in crappy weather. **Metal Mouse** it is so worthwhile. Plus, hey! You’re putting money back into the local economy! ---

Maybe I’m an anomaly, but breakfast in bed doesn’t appeal to me in the least. I prefer to sit at a table to eat, and it’s not at all because I’m messy. Nope, that’s not it at all… 😛 I don’t think the carpet cleaner did much to flatten the remnant, but it’s definitely cleaner. Even without using a detergent, the water came up pretty icky. I’ll go over it again tomorrow. Plus I got my walk done and I know the next step in organizing the basement - also for tomorrow. For now, chillage till I have to dump sauce on the ribs in about an hour. ---

You know, I don’t use new technology unless I need it… and then I don’t know how to use it when I do need it. So I’ve just attempted to livestream to Facebook from my iPhone. It seems to have worked. I just opened the FB app and touched the ‘Live’ icon. (I deleted the video immediately.) So now I’ll be ready if I ever see a crazy person in ~~the mirror~~ public.
