The polite version of that is “the Republicans are reactionaries”; that’s what it’s called when you don’t want slow, deliberate change, but a reversal of changes already made, as part of a revolutionary movement to tear down modern society and replace it with one modeled on a past society, real or imagined. ---

[Here’s](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party_presidential_primaries,_2016) the primary calendar. I think he’ll definitely make it through South Carolina. He’s not winning Iowa and New Hamphire, the former’s going to a religious guy like Carson and the latter tends to be non-establishment. If he doesn’t manage at least a 2nd place showing in SC, there will be strong calls for him to drop out. Either way, he’ll hedge his bets on Super Tuesday. But if he doesn’t win some big states then, I think he’ll be done. There’s a calculation there with people who are not winning, they still want to be kingmakers so leaving right after March 1 allows him to have some influence by telling his supporters who to vote for. ---

I’m amused by Jeb!‘s new slogan “JEB CAN FIX IT”. In the UK it brings back memories of the television show “Jim’ll Fix It”, where beloved television presenter and children’s charity spokesperson Jimmy Savile made young childrens’ dreams come true. Oh, did I mention that, after he died, Savile was discovered to have been a **[monstrous child molester](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Savile#Allegations_of_sexual_abuse)**? But I’m sure that won’t reflect at all on Jeb! who of course has nothing to do with pedophiles. That’s more Mike Huckabee’s thing. ---
