I’ve been busy this week. Was this just a procedural vote?

> Pretty much. It’s nothing but a grandstand play so that Obama can have some re-election fodder. It sure as hell wasn’t going to create jobs.

Do I believe your right wing slant or the Congressional Budget Office that said 1.9 million jobs?

Tax rates went down immediately prior to the Depression, and went up until they reached their [highest point](http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2011/04/us-tax-rates-1916-2010/) around 1945 (when most people agree the Depression had been over for awhile). Tax rates did not fall significantly until the early 1980s.

Not the Great Depression, the depression of 1920.

Just read the wiki on that. I wouldn’t join any group that included
Maxine Waters
Barney Frank
Nancy Pelosi
Maxine Waters (just to re-emphesize)
Peter DiFazio (who voted against the stimulus because it was a compromise bill with the Republicans)
and Maxine Waters
Plus [my own representative](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jared_Polis)is in that group. Would you belong to any group with a guy that dresses like that

They could be going out rescuing stray kittens and I still wouldn’t join that group.

Actually 3 times.
In fact, you could take all of the other names off that list and only have Maxine Waters and it would be enough.

I’m confused as to the distinction you are drawing. Are you suggesting that if this were an actual vote on the bill, rather than a cloture vote, there wouldn’t have been 51 Democratic votes for it? Or are you saying because the Democrats didn’t have enough votes to secure cloture, this is merely grandstanding?

That is certainly possible. The Pubbies are a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mammonite Church, but so are a number of Dems.

Ah, humor. There’s nothing like it… and that most certainly wasn’t. :dubious:

The quote, “S’ils n’ont plus de pain, qu’ils mangent de la brioche” (If they have no bread, let them eat cake) is what most Historians assure us Marie Antoinette mostly likely _never_ said… but our corporate owned government **is** currently saying — very loud and clear.

_Oui. Mas o menos._
