Evening all, exercise is done, soccer watched (with the sound off, it was on a Spanish-language station, so just watched the picture) and did my Sudoku’s/Jumbles, so that occupied my afternoon.

😄 Tomorrow will be pedal (stationary bike) and metal (weights). Try to alternate days and take either Saturday or Sunday off. Actually seem to be losing a couple pounds here and there, but have so much that I doubt it shows. Still, small progress is progress.

**Wheelie** , hope the new place fits both your budget and your wish list. Double-Check the Builder’s reputation if you can, just to be sure you get your money’s worth.

Booked other parts of my trip West today. If you’re in Seattle on May 4th/5th or Portland May 15th-16th, perhaps we can arrange a meeting.

**shoe** , some crushes become fond memories–let InCrPoo’s be a fond one for you.

OK, need to LT my B on Rye toast w/Mayo, so all y’all take care.

Happy Hump Day!

Beautiful weather today, in the 70s with a light breeze.
The dogs went to day care today, and they are tired. Echo was falling asleep on the way home. Poor girl, she was in the back seat with my son and he said she was sitting up, her eyes kept closing, and she’d start to wobble.
Both of them crashed out on the floor, they didn’t even eat dinner.

I got a good number of things crossed of The List today, but they were small things and mostly to do with paper and phone calls. I took my son out to sign the paperirk for four more weeks of layoff. Then I had to send some paperirk to unemployment. They are irking on it. The issue of them saying he turned down irk has been fixed, they are still irking on calculating his benefits.

I’m tired today. A friend called last night and we talked until 1130. I woke up at 4 and got up at 430.

We got a dishwasher when I was a young teen, the kind you had to roll across to the kitchen sink. It was my job to load it and anything that wouldn’t fit had to be washed by hand. I was very very good at loading the dishwasher.

Howdy Y’all! I shopped in two Pubic Sto’s today. I have to say, I like my regular one a whole lot better than the other one. However, the other one is the one closest to the church house so it made sense to meet up and shop there. We filled up two shoppin’ carts. I was shoppin’ with our Senior Warden. When we got to the check out, I turned to Joe and said, real out loud, “Honestly! I don’t know why you wanted such a big family! Those kids are eatin’ us out of house and home!” He blushed. The cashier was highly amused. What? You can take me places, but you can’t make me behave. Anywho, all the foodstuffs for the big feast have been bought and now reside in the church kitchen.

**Wheelie** hope the house thing goes accordin’ to plan.

**Wordy** prayers ascend for overlyboy and you. Also appropriate/inappropriate appendages will be crossed.

**taters** tell mom you spent months pickin’ out the stuff you thought would piss her off the most. Then hug her and tell her how happy she has made you with her validation.

**shoe** I see nuttin’ wrong with givin’ InCrPoo a call about meetin’ up for a beer sometimes. Glad the ratties are gettin’ some gourmet chow.

When my 'rents sold the big house in town (that did not have a dishwasher) and bought the little house in the country (sounds like a Laura Ingalls Wilder book) that had a dishwasher, it took my mom several months before she would use the thing. Once she did, she was all pro dishwasher.

I’m confused as to why the amount changed after the offer was accepted…perhaps suggest she research any state sponsored first time home buyers deals. For a while, AZ was giving first time buyers a large enough chunk of money that I took notice. I think they still are, but I have no details or anything.

> That’s one project I absolutely want nothing to do with because I’m pretty sure I lack the patience to get it just so.

Yep, this. I think that well done quilts like @LH75 has shown are fabulous, but as a stitcher, I can also admire the attention to detail and KNOW that I’d never be able to reach that short of skill.

(I hope your dishwasher keeps working, not having a dishwasher really sucks.)

GG is always entertaining! He’s not trying to be bad, he’s just not smart enough to figure things out until he’s been shown 97 times or so.

> [@overlyverbose](#):
>
> It never ceases to amaze me how big a jackass some people can be, especially clients

I used to work at the food stamp office. I could spend hours swapping entitlement stories with you, wanna do it while you are waiting for overlyboy’s very successful surgery to be over? BTW, remember to bring a jacket, surgical waiting rooms are COLD! He’s going to be fine and I’m sure he will be happier almost right away. The girls are going to be able to see his face when he’s standing up straight so you might want to get him a cane of his own. Use a pool noodle for his, he doesn’t really want to beat the girls off just yet.

> [@Wheelz](#):
>
> When I was a kid my mom got a dishwasher.

When I was a kid, Mom had 4 dishwashers and I was the oldest one. I didn’t get my first dishwasher until after I was out of the service and then it was one like your mom had. Then hubs and I bought our first home (a 1970’s single wide trailer tastefully decorated in avocado green, including the shag carpet). No dishwasher, but we owned the place damnit! When we sold and moved, I made sure we bought a place with a dishwasher (and other things on my list) so had time to become very spoiled until our last one died during the height of the pandemic.

Congrats on the new place, I know it’s going to be built so you have some time…but maybe now is a good time to start getting rid of stuff. I’m not saying that you are a hoarder or anything, but it’s not unusual for people to fill dumpsters when moving.

> [@purplehorseshoe](#):
>
> … and if I had a buttload of spare cash, I’d get a portable dishwasher as described above. They sound like the perfect solution for me.

I see them in thrift stores all the time. Single folks move into tiny apartments and get one, then figure out that they are a PITA and have to be stored, so donate them. I have also seen counter top dishwashers, which look to hold a days worth of dishes for a single person, but I’ve been told they are worthless when it comes to pots and pans.

I got along very nicely with one like you are admiring, but I also had enough dishes to be able only run it every three or four days.

Those are some cute little rodents, I love the black ears and spot on back.

Our housekeeper has a rabbit, so I give her our excess produce, as do her other neighbors. Our housekeeper says she has a very fat rabbit, but came by today to pick up a head of cabbage for bunny.

A twofer is always fab, good job!!!

> [@Sunny\_Daze](#):

> Stress, it’s a killer!

I honestly do believe that stress kills more people than we know. Stress makes people smoke tobacco AND weed, it makes people drink too much, it makes them ragey on the road, it messes up their sleep so they go to sleep while they are driving. Please take care of yourself, I don’t want you to be one of them.

So, anyways, today was surplus produce and my box had 4 beautiful eggplants. Hubs has never actually said it, but he won’t eat purple food. I don’t think he even knows what he’s doing, he eats around it without seeming to notice. I kept one that I will peel before battering and the others went to the ex-office.

When I was working, I had to fill my car every 4 days and my mileage averaged 32 mph. My car has an ECON button and a SPRT button. When we picked it up from the dealer, I read the manual and learned that the ECON button would throttle down things to save gas and the SPRT button did something that cost more gas but added performance. The other option is to not push any buttons. Of course I played with them a couple of times, but being lazy, I settled for not pushing any buttons.

Today I pushed the ECON button, parked myself in the right lane and did the speed limit. According to the surprisingly accurate mpg thingy, that put me over 50 mpg for the trip. This sucks, I’m going to have to keep it up and ouch.

Sorry I wasn’t very clear. My daughter and her husband made an offer on a house, and the seller accepted it. The lender (their bank) then had an appraisal done. That’s always when it happens. The appraisal protects the lender. If the buyers quit making payments and the bank ends up with the house, it wants to sell it for at least what it paid for it. A low appraisal means the bank might not be able to do that.

It’s not a good thing that the appraisal came in low. The bank will only issue a mortgage for the amount of the appraisal, not the amount on the contract between buyer and seller. The buyer is either on the hook for the difference, or the deal falls through. That is, unless the bank agrees to restructure the mortgage or the seller agrees to the appraised price. I don’t know about the odds of the former, but with the crazy-hot real estate market, most sellers will just turn to a buyer who’s flush with cash, usually from their own home sale. The one thing going for my daughter is that the other potential buyers are also first-time buyers and likely don’t have the cash to make up the difference.

The closing is 6 days away, if it happens. Daughter and SIL have to be out of their rental house in 15 days. I’m trying to back off and let them be adults–They’d resent it if I tried to swoop in and fix things, plus I don’t have the $$$. It’s hard, though. They went through a VERY tough time three years ago through zero fault of their own. They’re good people and deserve this. I’m praying things work out for them.

Dishwashers…Mom got one shortly after I left home. I was happy for her. I’ve spent about half my adult life with no dishwasher. Ugh. I’ve had portable dishwashers twice. They’re a bit of a hassle because when in use, they block the sink, but they’re still worth it. I hope you find a good used one, **shoe**!

**wordy** , in case I didn’t say so earlier, I’ll be cheering on overlyboy from here. Of course the surgery will go smoothly, but of course you’ll worry.

So how do they freeze mice? Put cheese chunks in a freezer and wait for the mice to go in? On second thought, do I want to know? Probably not.

Got it. Can they ask the seller to give them an owner guaranteed 10 year loan for the other 25G with the extra 5G going straight into the owner’s pocket? That could mean that the owner gets a check for a couple hundred a month until it’s paid off. Something to talk about.
