# The Juice Man

I am watching an infomercial where this old guy is demonstrating a kitchen appliance and keeps repeating that “celery juice is the most powerful drink on the planet”! He is known, apparently, as the Juice Man. I just want to say that the dude looks pretty freaky. He has eyebrows like one of the Mentats in David Lynch’s version of _Dune_.

The way he talks is pretty freaky as well. It’s like he’s the founder of a vegetable cult or something. Looking deeply into the camera, he says in hypnotic tones, “live food . . . (pause) . . . LIVE bodies. Dead food–processed, cooked food . . . (very long pause) . . . does not add to LIVE bodies. It behooves use to EXTRACT the liquid nutrients that the carrot has drawn up into the soil and converted into LIFE FORCE . . .”

I’m afraid to watch any longer . . .

Anybody remember this? Back when “In Living Color” was on the air, Jim Carey did a skit about the Juice Man. My favorite part was when he insisted the juice enabled him to fly.
