The Kid In The Hall Who Should Be The Next Cohost for The Conan O'Brien Show

In a prior outburst, I mistakenly said Mark has good facial expressions, but I meant Kevin.

Also:
I DON’T NEED TO CALM DOWN!! I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT KITH!!!

Feelyat, when I first saw your username I had wondered if you had gotten it from that sketch “Das Feelyat”, the foreign game show where people feel items they can’t see. Now I guess I know.
As for my favorite Kid, definitely Kevin. I love his neurotic characters. Like the one where Mark tells him he has something on his shirt, then when Kevin goes to look, Mark thumps his nose. Then Kevin spends the rest of the sketch glaring at him and fantasizing about killing him. Or the one where his office desk is moved, his pencils are dulled and his computer is unplugged and peers around the office whispering aloud, “Who could have done this to me?”

I quite agree with you, Chief Crunch.
In the Feelyat sketch, Kevin was the hots! :oD
And another sketch, do the words “whole lotta milka” ring a bell? Good stuff. He’s also good at playing women, as they all are, and he seems to like red wigs, which has nothing to do with what I was talking about. heh heh

But, really, I can’t choose a favorite, although Kevin, Bruce and Dave are my favorites out of the group. Well, Scott too, so I guess I have a least favorite, Mark.

Oops…I meant Kevin was the host, and I have no idea how the smiley got in there.

But Stoid - you can say that because you have an “insider’s” view. Rupert may be well known in Hollywood, but out here in the sticks, it’s more like “Rupert who?” Hey, at least I didn’t say Rock Hudson!

Aww. Hugs!!

Seriously, though, I really do think Kevin is hilarious. He seems to having the hardest time post-KITH, but I’m a fan!

I gotta go with Kevin (in this race). I would, however, choose Dave Foley to host and Kevin as the side-kick. Ever notice how in over half of the sketches where there was a main character and a supporting character, Kevin was the supporting character. And he was always awsome in that capacity, though I liked him in as a lead too.

I don’t pity Kevin at all. The reason you haven’t seen him that much is because he has decided to do more behind the scenes. He now writes (including for several late-night talk shows). Though, I admit, he did seem to have a hard time on the KITH. But he also made light of that in several skits. One where he brought his mom on and explained how he needed to support her. And also in the one skit when Scott wanted to make the perfect man (which would have Bruce’s legs and ability to drink, Mark’s abdominal muscles, Dave’s smile and even greater ability to drink, and Kevin’s soul).

I don’t know about not liking the show, though. I can’t see how anyone couldn’t like it. Though maybe I’m just biased.

Just in relation to the title of the thread. Im glad you called the position “co-host” and not the demeaning “sidekick” that the great CO’B refers to it as.

i guess in the sticks you didn’t see “My Best Friend’s Wedding”. And youthink the folks in the sticks are more familiar with Harvey Fierstein??? What’s he done…Independence day for 5 minutes? Get with the program, dood.

Two words - Mrs. Doubtfire. And that’s doodette, to you.

In case you don’t know, Kevin is currently slumming on The Martin Short SHow. Based on the stuff he does on that show, he’s lucky he isn’t retroactively kicked out of KITH. I think Mark might be on that show too. In this market, its on at 2am, so I saw a little bit after Conan. Martin Short should be deported. He’s not funny.

Actually, I had heard that Kevin had left the Martin Short Show and had moved on to writing for another show. I don’t know how good his stuff was on the show when he was on because I just saw the show for the first time. I agree, The Martin Short Show is indeed not very good, and rather anoying at that.

I think Bruce had the most memorable lines (“My pen! My pen!”, and “How much would my head weigh if it was a ham?” stick out for me.)

But as far as co-hosts go, I think the Scott’s the way to go.

Is The Kids in the Hall big in the States? I know it’s still pretty popular here in Canada, and I know Lorne Michaels played a key role in it, but do the Yanks watch this show?

Any one of them would be great. I loved the one where the guy thought everyone was reading his mind, but he was really just talking. Great humor.

The tally so far:
[ul]
[li]Scott 6[/li][li]Kevin 4[/li][li]Dave 2[/li][li]Bruce 2[/li][li]Mark 1 (red_dragon60 voted for everybody)[/li][/ul]
Scott’s in the lead! Woo-hoo! Go Scott Go!

(Not everyone who has responded actually voted. I didn’t count your vote, Chief Crunch, because you just said Kevin was your favorite and didn’t address his suitability as a co-host. I wasn’t sure how to count Farris’s, either.)

Pipeliner, I think KITH has somewhat of a cult status here. The shows weren’t on a major network - first they were on HBO and now they’re rerun daily on Comedy Central. CBS thought they were going to run them late night on Saturday but only one or two episodes were shown before CBS freaked out and quit airing them. KITH did a sketch about selling out to CBS, “The Kids in the Hall may have lost their edge, but they did it for a great deal of money!”

I have to put in a vote for Belini (sp)

I think Kevin would make a fine co-host.

I wrote an e-mail to Paul Bellini about his website and he wrote back to me. It was the thrill of my life.

How much would my head be worth if it were made of veal!!!is the question! geez. but thanks for liking kith, especially bruce.

Uh-oh - that’s 5 - Kevin’s closing in! I don’t suppose I could count those 30 Helens? No? Okay, I didn’t really think so…but Farris said he really liked Buddy Cole! Can I count that as a vote for Scott?

As someone else stated, Kevin is better as a supporting role. I love Scott, but I think he would steal the spotlight from Conan. Kevin would fit in nicely.

Feelyat, “Can’t fix the car without a whole lotta milka.”

“I’m don’t have a problem with the food, the food was exquisite!!”

“…dog’s heads, old phonebooks and weiner flavor.”

Favorite sketches: My Pen; any Gavin sketch; the above quoted dinner sketch where Bruce complains about his bill; (among many others).
