He’s growing quickly.

Since CatMom is out of the country for the weekend, I slept on her bed last night… and I left the door opened. Findus zoomed around, as he does every night. By the time CatMom sent me a text at 02:30 to say good morning (it would have been 04:30 in El Salvador, which is still pretty early), there had been no drama. I went back to sleep. I don’t know what time it was, as she’d taken her clock and my phone was in the kitchen, but I was awakened by a _Reow! Hiss! Thump._ I chased Goo out of the room and shut the door. I opened the door again at 05:30, then dozed for ten minutes before getting up. Goo just went back there, and I heard nothing. She came out before I got trough the kitchen.

At feeding time, Abbey approached Findus, and Findus nosed forward. They didn’t _quite_ touch noses. Abbey hissed, but did not attack. (She hasn’t attacked yet.) Findus is still wary of Goo. I’m sure that Goo attacks Findus because she feels excluded from CatMom’s room. Goo is quite welcome back there… as long as she is not aggressive toward Findus. And there’s the rub.

</div>

Yeah. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to clearly explain that in Cat.

Unclearly, I think you try to say it as you have been: pet Goo and let her sleep on that bed whenever she lets Findus alone.

They’ll probably work it out over time.

Goo and Abbey didn’t like each other until we went on vacation for a week and took them to Cat Country Resort. Abbey jumped up onto the high shelf. Goo did too, and Abbey put her arm around her. Tonka and Creamsickle _loved_ Cat Country. Goo and Abbey were scared the whole time. They seem to have bonded after spending a week in a 4x8 ‘suite’.

When I was a child, we had two cats (among others), one of whom didn’t like the other. Then the disliked cat had to go to the vet for several days. When she came back, the cat who hadn’t liked her was very glad to see her, and they were friends after that.

(In the other direction, I’ve seen reports of cats who thought the one who came back from the vet smelled weird and they started to dislike them; though I’ve never known that to happen myself. But individual cat reactions obviously vary.)

As instructed, I slept with Findus last night. He likes to play, so I was awakened a few times by his batting something about.

Findus loves to attack hands. If I bend down to pet him, he rolls over to expose his belly. It’s a trap. This morning, before I woke up, he was licking my hand. (I sleep on my sides – one at a time – so a hand is usually exposed.) Then he started giving my hand nibbles. Not hard bites, just putting his teeth on my hand. Then he started reaching out and pulling individual fingers toward him. He nibbled on those. Fortunately, there was no full-on rabbit-kicking such as what happens when I try to pet hi during the day. No bleeding.

One of my cats was a big rabbit-kicker when he was a kitten. I got him a sturdy stuffed animal and he loved it and quickly stopped trying to do it to me. He seemed to prefer stuffed animals that were roughly his own size, so about the time he’d successfully disemboweled one it was time to buy one a little bigger anyway.

Good idea. CatMom bought a plush cat a year or two ago, with the intention that it be played with/ I should take it back to Findus. The toy is so cute, I’d hate to see it destroyed; but I’d rather have a happy real cat.

If it helps save the cute plushie, my cat preferred ones that were more solidly stuffed than the soft, pliable ones. I imagine the resistance felt more “real” or substantial.

The cats got their gooshy food. Abbey finished first, because she seldom finishes her ⅛ can. (Weird, eh?) Findus finished his ⅛ can shortly after Abbey stopped eating. Goo gets a quarter of a can. We’ve been putting kitty calmers in her food, and that slows her down a little bit. When Abbey went away, licking her chops, Findus went to eat her leftovers. Goo… sat nearby, waiting for Findus to eat Abbey’s food!

🙀

Findus left a few crumbs, and Goo finished them off.

Goo spend the afternoon sleeping on CatMom’s bed. I think Findus was between the dresser and the chair, next to or behind the radiator space heater. Abbey snoozed in the living room.

I brought Findus out into the living room… I don’t know how long ago. I had him in my lap, and I took pictures for CatMom down in San Salvador. Abbey came up and snuggled down on the other end of the couch. Eventually, I put Findus on the back of the couch. He stepped down, and is laying next to Abbey. Abbey was not amused, and hissed at him. But now she appears to be asleep, and Findus is still laying (not quite meatloafing) next to her. Goo is asleep in the cat bed CatMom bought for Findus, which is on the rocking chair on the other side of the room (next to the furnace).

My youngest cat, Kami, loves her stuffed animals and carries them all over the house. She prefers to disembowel them in different locations. Her current favorite is a solidly stuffed Halloween cat. Or it used to be. Now it looks like it exploded.

Tango and Cheddar are just happy she uses a lot of her energy on to toys and not them. Although they do love to ‘rassle.

But in spite of opening the image in a new tab, copying the URL, and posting it here, it’s all stretched out. So I’m just deleting the post.

I was on a Teams meeting this morning (no video, because), and there was a feline development.

Abbey came _tearing_ into the living room… chased by Findus! 😲 Abbey jumped to the top of the cat tree, and Findus stood in the middle of the living room as if to say, ‘Come on! Let’s play!’ But Abbey stayed in the tree, perhaps wondering why this interloper dared to chase her. (She and Goo usually chase each other.) Findus ran back to the bedroom, leaving Abbey to ponder what happened.

ETA: I started this thread, and I post about _our_ cats. But this thread isn’t just for me. Other people have cats too.

I am happy to report that Buddy and Kasya (the kitten referred to in a previous post. She became a permanent resident after Allie went to the Bridge on 18 November) are getting along well. We’ve had some occasional bits of irritation expressed, but it blows over. They’ve been sighted on more than one occasion cuddled together in my desk chair, and this afternoon while they were in the chair and Buddy decided he needed to groom himself, Kasya got a few licks too and didn’t seem to object.

Based on her teeth (still those super-sharp baby teeth), we think Kasya’s about four months old. There’s definitely more of a size difference between her and Buddy (probably about 10 years old now) than it looks like in this picture.

&nbsp; Kasya is closer to the camera, with Buddy farther away.

&nbsp; The practice of intentionally using this technique to distort the apparent relative sizes of things is called _“[forced perspective](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forced_perspective)”_.

&nbsp; In your picture, Kasya actually looks like she is larger than Buddy, though we both know directly that she is in fact, quite a bit smaller than he is.

Something about their faces, however, tells me immediately which one is older; though I can’t explain the difference in words.
