I attended [this Dopefest](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/a-moveabledopefest-the-details-or-calling-all-ohio-kentucky-indiana-dopers/95619) in Cincinnati on Friday, December 14, 2001. It took place at a restaurant called [Buca di Beppo](https://dineatbuca.com/locations/cincinnati/). Sat across from [The\_Mermaid](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/the_mermaid/summary). Had a good time. ---

There’s a last time for everything, and so, in due course, there will inevitably, eventually, be a last Dopefest. But I imagine that the lasts of most things aren’t planned as such. There’s just a plan for another, like all of the others before it, and then no other ever gets planned. ---

The US visa requirements to reveal one’s social media keep getting more stringent. At this point they do not ask for one’s Doper handle. We are below the radar. However, ironically, we may reach a point where the reason I wouldn’t attend an SDMB dopefest is the SDMB. ---

I think it makes more sense to have a dopefest in Canada if we want any Canadians to attend. ---
