> It’s not just the gays Pennsylvanians-it’s anyone who isn’t an upper-class, white, well-to-do conservative right wing Catholic like himself. He’s pissed of a LOT of people here in Pittsburgh for his attitude towards those less fortunate.

I often wonder how he keeps remaining in power – I guess three out of six is enough to get you elected in Pennsylvania.

Enough people have already voiced their support for Santorum in this particular hypothetical situation for me to add anything by repeating it. However, as an agnostic, I think I can divvy up the possible metaphysical situation into these possibilities:

– Heaven doesn’t exist. In which case, a corpse isn’t anything special. In this case, I don’t particularly care about what happens to corpses. Sure, it’s a wee bit gross but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it ghoulish. Barring any egregious unsanitary situations (like hacking it up and throwing it into your yard for a week,) whatever floats your boat.

– Heaven does exist. In which case we should be celebrating the life that was recently taken from us. Moreover, death is not something to be afraid of nor grieved over, since everything will work out in the end.

In neither of these situations is there something to fault Santorum for.

(Note that I used Heaven, as opposed to God, since life would be just as worthless if an evil deity existed that condemned the vast majority, or all, people to Hell or oblivion.)

It seems like it deserves a whole new thread, but I do hate to have two threads for him.

It seems our favorite man-on-dog enthusiast in the Senate has opened his mouth yet again, and once again, something has fallen out that I can’t quite believe. He said this today in the debate over the Crybaby Option:

> [@](#):
>
> “Some are suggesting we’re trying to change the law, we’re trying to break the rules. Remarkable. Remarkable hubris.
>
> “I mean, imagine. The rule has been in place for 214 years that this is the way we confirm judges. Broken by the other side two years ago, and the audacity of some members to stand up and say, ‘How dare you break this rule?’
>
> “It’s the equivalent of Adolf Hitler in 1942: ‘I’m in Paris. How dare you invade me? How dare you bomb my city? It’s mine.’”

No, really, he said that.

“I am fascinated by this idea of wrapping dead terrorists in pigskin and lard. This is what the Russians — who understand far better than Americans how to deter Muslim terrorists — are doing with Chechen terrorists.”
–Jonah Goldberg

“Jonah Goldberg knows absolutely nothing about Iraq. I wonder if he has even ever read a single book on Iraq, much less written one. He knows no Arabic. He has never lived in an Arab country. He can’t read Iraqi newspapers or those of Iraq’s neighbors. He knows nothing whatsoever about Shiite Islam, the branch of the religion to which a majority of Iraqis adheres. Why should we pretend that Jonah Goldberg’s opinion on the significance and nature of the elections in Iraq last Sunday matters? It does not.”

With the bigot Thurmond found to have fathered a child with a black servant, when Santorum dies we’ll find out about his homosexual cult and the orgies they had which were funded by the Log Cabin Society.

Well, Mr Moto thinks so.

He also seems to think that ANY of us think Santorum is worthy of the slightest shard of respect or the fact that he was a boot licking toady should garner him anything other than scorn, contempt, and utter derision.

Oh… and one other thing.

Mr. Moto as a movie character has always been played by caucasians just like Charlie Chan.

What does this mean?

I think that choosing it as a username means that you’re either not what you seem, or as oblivious to the history of the name you chose as you are to the level of vermin that Santorum is.

Just to say.
I had a sister who died at 12 hours old. She died the day before my 4th birthday. I never saw her, never held her, never went to the funeral. Abstract ideas are very difficult for children to deal with, anything to help them understand and say goodbye is worthwhile.

I can understand why the Santorum’s did what they did.

Newborn infants are usually considered to be sterile, decompsition would not be an issue for several days, as there would be no bacteria in the bowel.

The respect you show toward Santorum or to me is your own business. I can’t control it, and really don’t care much about it.

Being an intern for a congressman isn’t that big a deal, and I don’t name drop. Since I was in fact an intern for the man, though, I might as well talk about the experience if it is appropriate to do so.

It’s a small part of a rather varied life that I have led.

I have stated before that my username is a nickname that I picked up in the Navy, and I wasn’t a big Peter Lorre fan when I signed on to these boards. You’re reading far too much into it.

I hope he wasn’t the one that was recently banned.

I’d like to see him have his ass handed to him here as well as in the blogosphere. I’d like him to talk about his service in the [101st Fighting Keyboardists](http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/5/9/104813/3757).

The wonderful thing about an all-volunteer force is that the people in it are volunteers. And while respect and honor is certainly due to servicemembers for honorable service, this by no means indicates that those who don’t serve are to be made targets of scorn or derision, IMHO.

And that’s true regardless of their position on the war.

Am I somehow allowed to support this war, **Hentor** , solely by virtue of my veteran’s status? Or does the First Amendment figure more here?

Agree.

> [@](#):

Lesser agreement - someone who says “Yes” when asked by a pollster shares quite a bit less responsibility for the war than someone who publically worked to get others to support it.

> [@](#):
>
> Am I somehow allowed to support this war, **Hentor** , solely by virtue of my veteran’s status? Or does the First Amendment figure more here?

You certainly have more credibility on the matter, to begin with.

It seems a fair question to ask folks who were actively involved in influencing public opinion on the matter of going to war why it was an important enough matter for other people to die, but not for them.

He’s right when he says:

> [@](#):
>
> As for why my sorry a\*\* isn’t in the kill zone, lots of people think this is a searingly pertinent question. No answer I could give – I’m 35 years old, my family couldn’t afford the lost income, I have a baby daughter, my a\*\* is, er, sorry, are a few – ever seem to suffice.

Those answers don’t serve to explain why someone should make an effort to have the war happen to other people instead of themselves. These things are true of many people in the military. Why is it okay for him to push people on the transport and shut the door behind them?

The whole point is that reasoned judgment must be used when engaging in war with another country, whether you are the president or someone publically fomenting the zeal for it. That didn’t happen in this case on many levels, and a lot of people want to slink away from their role in making it happen.

Not only have too many lives been given up in vain, we are presently significantly weaker in our ability to defend our country. We are fortunate that there aren’t too many out there right now who would and could exploit our weakness.

Perhaps people will grow a conscience from the process of being called out, a conscience that will help to change the discussion the next time someone wants to abuse our American military and Americans in general.

I visit upon him the curse of having his underwear never being comfortable-my the waist constantly fall off of his hips while the bottom constantly rides up his ass.

I wish that his socks will never stay up and be always slipping down into his shoes.

May the bottoms of his feet constantly itch like crazy during important Senate meetings and hearings when he can’t take off his shoes and scratch.

He should always suffer from that, “I’m going to sneeze feeling…but I can’t sneeze” feeling.

And finally, may he suffer from the worst of earworms: “Achy Breaky Heart”.

Fair enough, **spectrum**. What I wrote wasn’t clear. (I shouldn’t try to do anything more complicated than throw up when in the throes of flu.)

I wasn’t warning you for wishing death on a public figure. It was an interjection, nothing more, suggesting that you consider how you’re coming across here. That’s why I mentioned the warning for wishing death on a poster.

The Pit is the haven for flaming, so all fine there. You’re just flaming a _lot_ recentlly, and in a lot of different directions. For the sake of your own blood pressure and stomach lining, and the sake of other posters, you could be a bit more controlled in your range and venom.

So it is okay to wish death on Santorum? Because I do it practically every day. I enjoy very much the fact that he is older than me. I will someday be able to piss on his grave.

I guess I wouldn’t pit the Santorums for becoming somewhat unhinged, hell, even for earnestly practicing an old-fashioned laying-out after the death of their baby.

I do pit them for turning the tiny corpse into daddy’s political [football](http://www.newsobserver.com/lifestyles/family_community/story/2350824p-8728483c.html). In so doing, the Senator has made his private tragedy not just public, but a particularly grotesque sort of sacrifice at the altar of his Cause.
