The law DOES require them to separate children from their families

The quote I gave you was John Kelly confirming that the element of family separation would, in his mind, serve to deter undocumented immigrants. Sessions said “If you come here, we will separate you from your family”. That’s not an incidental consequence of a policy meant to deter in other ways. It is a fundamental element of how they think it will work. They are arresting people at least in part because it allows for family separation–which they think is a powerful deterrent. I know this because they said they were separating families “in order to deter” this sort of immigration.

And now CNN has identified at least 26 parents who have had charges withdrawn and been released on their own recognizance, but they have not had their children returned to them, nor any information about when they might have those children returned to them. In some cases, they can’t even get anyone to tell them where their children are.

I do not see how anyone can claim that the family separations were simply incidental to a policy.

It’s another example of Il Douche’s improv style of policy-making. There was no preparation, no plans, he simply assumed that it would work and there wouldn’t be any need, they would just turn around and go back. “Gut feeling” and instinct work for the salesman, for a President, its a recipe for a high-dive faceplant.

Local gang wants your daughter, or your son. What would you do? Or a better question, what wouldn’t you do?

Oklahoma Senator James Lankford has attempted to curry favor with Trump by making a claim that I wish he’d be held responsible for:

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/24/lankford-children-separated-border-parents-667189

If Lankford’s claim is factual, then the government is willfully and maliciously lying to the 26 parents mentioned above.

But then, who actually believes that Lankford’s claim is factual, and not a lie told to help out Trump (who will presumably return the favor)?

“It’s not a lie if you don’t know if it’s true or not when you say it.”

:rolleyes::dubious:

ETA: :smack: I just realized I should have been going thru life this way all along: I’ll just assume that whatever I say is right and true! What could go wrong?

…would you care to provide a cite for this?

And while you are at it, are you going to attempt to back up what you claimed in your OP? Its been five pages now.
