# The Lehto's Law thread

Steve Lehto is a lawyer with a YouTube channel. He posts videos using the title Lehto’s Law. IMHO he is both informative and entertaining. The point of this thread is to post links to his videos for discussion. Discussion of him, his videography, his explanations and commentary, or the legal topics addressed in the videos. If in depth discussion of a particular law or legal case featured in a video I recommend spinning off a thread specifically for that matter.
I’ll kick things off with a video posted today. Nothing all that exciting here, but an example of him deconstructing a story in the news involving the law.

I have described him previously as a ‘long winded internet lawyer’. His long windedness comes from providing in depth explanations of the law, plus additional commentary. I like the way he explains things, tossing in a bit of snark here and there, and laughing at himself as well, so I’ll spend the time on his videos.

My first experience was just earlier today when someone posted one of his videos in my corner-crossing thread. I found the video informative, but I’m not sure I would watch many of them unless the topic really interested me.

He sometimes puts out more than one video a day. If it doesn’t sound like an interesting topic I don’t spend the time.

Does he ever show anything in his videos besides a static view of himself talking? It’s really more of a podcast, but I understand the need/want to be on youtube where he might find a bigger audience.
ETA I just thought to check, and he does have a podcast too, probably the same content as his youtube channel. Maybe I’ll just start listening to him there and save my youtube-watching time for creators with actual video content 🙂

I’ve watched a couple of his videos but have been fairly unimpressed. He is very long-winded, but my main issue with him is he doesn’t really seem to offer any legal insight into what he’s talking about. What he does (mostly read news stories out loud) seems like something anyone, without any particular legal expertise, could do. I much prefer Devin Stone’s Legal Eagle channel, where he does offer insightful legal commentary on the topic of discussion.
