That’s pretty much it in a nutshell. The nice thing about an offshoot is that it’s low stakes, so you can just try stuff out. Some stuff worked, some totally sucked. No big deal. I had originally hoped that some of the vB features and forum ideas we tried out could be brought back over here, but that ended up being unrealistic. It’s still been a great experience, and I’m surprised and humbled that as many hilarious and charming people have stuck around for as long as they have. (They know who they are. The rest of you are fine too, I guess.) ---

I find the snark threads to be interesting and sometimes hilarious. Not really mean spirited. And they are often discussing some thread that I haven’t bothered to follow on this board. I can’t spend the time to read everything here, usually only the ones that seem interesting at the time, and they often fade away. But sometimes a thread I haven’t been following blows up into a more interesting discussion or a spat between posters. The Giraffe board snark is like a filter for finding those discussions. ---

Also, since the snarkers are not anonymous to the snarkees, if one feels unfairly portrayed it’s trivially simple to go argue your case in person. Or to snark back. Which is not actually easy to do HERE due to the arcane rules that nobody really seems to comprehend completely. ---
