The lost art of Letter Writing - for your MMP consideration

Wow, I’m glad FCD figured out what was wrong before he really messed himself up! There aren’t any long-term side effects from taking too much tramadol, are there?

I decided I needed a break from trying to get this job finished tonight, so I took a couple hours off and put my feet up and watched the bloatfest that was the Dancing With the Stars finale. At least it was a mildly entertaining bloatfest. But man, how they can drag a show like that out to two hours when it could have been done in half an hour is beyond me. I guess with the writer’s strike we’ll be seeing lots more pointless bloatfests. But at least I had a nice break, and the cat got lots of petting.

My new TV is all hooked up and works great – and it has a build-in DVD player, which I hadn’t expected. I’m always suspicious of TVs with built-ins, but at the price of this one, as Papa Tigs pointed out, if it dies in a year, oh well, we’ve gotten our money’s worth. Yes, it was that cheap. I do love me a good bargain.

Back to work. I’m approaching the end of this thing. Or, to be more specific, I’m on page 312 of the estimated 250-page job, with probably another 40 pages to go. I just love accurate estimates like this one. It’s so helpful in planning my work schedule.

Hello everyone! Wow, you’ve all been busy and it seems much has unfolded.

Firstly, that was a very nice OP, FCM. I used to be an avid letter writer and wrote to people all over the states. But, as I and they grew older, we lost touch. I can’t remember the last real letter I wrote.

Congrats, taxi, on the impending home ownership. Did you feel like you signed your life away when you signed the contract? When we signed the papers for both this house and the first one we bought, I had the sickest, yet most exhilerating feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Wow, Swampy, that is indeed high drama. However, I gotta admire what you did. I hope things turn out well. You need to tell your “consulting” employers that a trip to the Pacific Northwest is required.

FCM, it can’t hurt to hear what the guy has to say. He may say something that may make the commute worth it. Maybe they offer telecommuting. That’d be nice.

If I had my druthers, I’d like to keep the work schedule I have now which includes every other Friday off. However, on alternate Fridays, I would love to be able to telecommute. That’d be exceptionally nice.

SCL, I’m sorry to see that you quit the Booster Club. However, maybe you can enjoy the games even more now. I remember you talking about that troublemaker before. She sounds like a real piece of work.
**
Rigsy,** I sure hope they can figure out what’s going on with you.

I know there’s so much more to address, but it’s been a crazy couple of days here, and I was trying to just speed through the MMP so I could say hello.

Tomorrow, I guess, my boss will be discussing my performance appraisal with me. Oh joy…

Additionally, I guess some changes are being made in workload distribution in our office. They’re finally going to pull me off of the Managed Care work I’ve been doing. I’m so damn happy. I’m so burned out on that stuff and so very ready to get into some other stuff. I hope this turns out to be a good thing for me. Well, I’m going to approach it positively anyway.

I think I’m going to watch a little television. I need to veg for a bit.

Morning all - at work so not much time to post and catch up on everyone’s goings-on.

MIL is doing okay (as well as can be expected, given the knee replacement and the pre-existing nasty temperament).

I am in a really pissy mood this morning. My employers were supposed to deposit my salary into my account yesterday (the 27th of every month is pay-day) and after the last 5 months without salary, I was well looking forward to it! BUT, the regional office administrator and the local office manager couldn’t reach agreement about how much was outstanding on my employee loan and how much this month’s deduction/repayment should be so … they didn’t pay me at all! The local office manager then gave me a cash cheque, which I took into the bank yesterday afternoon to cash, only to be told that there were insufficient funds in the account. GRRRR! I called the local office manager, but she was out of the office; I left a message for her to call me urgently and spoke with the partner, who said she would follow up. Turns out the funds transfer between office accounts hadn’t been processed by the time I presented the cheque for payment. To add insult to injury, this morning I tried again to cash the cheque, only to be told that they needed to wait for the account holder’s office to open, so they could verify the cheque was not a forgery! Just to further give me grief, I came into work to find an email from the local office manager, politely informing me that if I had called her yesterday afternoon from the bank, she could have resolved the issue for me. Aaaagggghhhhh, I did try to call you, you silly tart!!! BUT YOU WEREN’T THERE!!!

So I STILL don’t have any salary, but I do have two banks playing phone-tag with me to get me to pay my credit card bills! I so desperately need a new job!

I guess it’s the joy of getting old to wake up two hours early due to the call of nature. And, you know, of course by the time I would fall back asleep, the alarm would be just about to ring.

From what I gathered in my research, while he took more than his Dr prescribed, he was still way under what the supposed max-per-day dosage is, so I’m not too terribly panicky. Frankly, what concerns me more is that he hasn’t had his Paxil for a week - that is not good, altho the tramadol seemed to mitigate what the effects might have otherwise been. Anyway, I expect by Firday, he should be back in balance.

Today is Jury Day! So I’m up but I don’t even have to hit the shower for another 2 hours. I can surf for a while, then get all cleaned up and gussied up and off to the courthouse I can go. Afterwards, I need to run to WalMart for a few things, but mid-day in mid-week, it shouldn’t be too terrible, should it? The worst part is that it just recently became a SuperWalMart, and they rearranged much of the store, so I can no longer go directly to the aisle I need for the stuff I want because I don’t know what stuff is where now. At least they didn’t move the pet stuff - that’s mostly what I go for anyway.

Oh yeah, another bit of excitement - after **FCD ** pulled out of the garage yesterday, I noticed oil on the floor under his car. There was no oil before he had the $$$ work done. So the dealership will be getting an angry call. The least then can do is give him a loaner, too.

No one was killed in any of my dreams last night, so there’s that. In fact, I slept pretty well, all things considered.

Have a Happy Wednesday!

I woke up earlier than necessary too, Cutie Pie. At least it was only by about an hour (which is much better than what I’ve been doing lately).

That’s just rude, rigs. On the plus side, you’ll have lots of material for your course evaluation.

Hope the work changes really improve things, Taters.

I can’t believe the paycheck was that messed up, Dotty. Hope it get ironed out quickly.

No…I’m pretty sure the document was just a boring work-related document, doggio. I’ll work on improving that aspect in my next dream, though.

I have to go into work early AGAIN. Not horribly early, but earlier than I want to.

At least I’m pretty sure today will be interesting, despite the all-day meetingness of it.

Happy Hump Day!

GT

There’s something about being all clean that wakes me up and gets me charged for the day. I don’t have to leave for another hour, and I’m going to stop for a McBiscuit enroute to the courthouse. So I’ve got an invigorated hour to frolic on line - where’s my Sudoku site??

off to work. bye!

At work. Nanner-nanner-boo-boo…
I think…

I got nuttin’.

Hey, if we’re going to ignore time-zone differences… I’ve been at work for hours. Neener! :stuck_out_tongue: (or something)

Well, I’m about to leave to do my Civic Duty. Go me!

Ciao for niao!!

I’m well enough to go to work, but I have a serious case of the donwannas

At work, blech. I hate my Mon-Wed 8am class.

So HazeHome didn’t go up in flames after all?

Fortunately no. Not when I left, anyway. Hopefully Cloud Maiden and our cats will still be there when I get back.

How much life insurance does she have? Is it in your name? :dubious:

Slight noises startle me, and I’m looking over my should constantly.

I think a shadow just moved, and all I have to defend myself is a toothbrush.

Will update when I have more time, I for now I need to finish fashioning my tin foil headgear.

Haze, why are you using a plastic jug for an ashtray? Use a coffee can or something made of glass, with sand or dirt in it. And empty it every day or so. Just like a cat litter box.

Going to court again today for the )hopefully) final installment of the Sean Divorce Saga. Ex says I owe her $5,900, and I have the separation agreement that says she needed to pay me over 6 grand (which she never has done.) Should be a fun morning.

Awake and caffeinating – or rather, caffeinated since I just finished my coffee. It’s cold out, but there’s little wind so it’s not entirely unpleasant. I came in to work to find two cop cars parked in the driveway of the building next door. Evidently they were joined earlier by an ambulance that had since left. I imagine it involved a call to 911, but other than that I’ve no idea what that was about. My first thought was that someone broke their windows again, though that hasn’t happened in over a year now, and their windows were intact. Probably some sort of industrial accident. They’re a tool & die maker, so all that metalworking equipment is probably bound be involved in an accident sooner or later.

Other than that, got nothin’ and expect another busy day, which I begrudgingly must get back to.

I’m back at work. :frowning:

Last night was tons of fun and drinks and good food. We had a very good waiter. My brother goes back to Denver tonight, and he and his wife go back to Afghanistan on Dec 3. It was a great visit! I’ll be glad when they are safe at home back in the States, that’s for sure.

Haze, you be careful, young lady! Get a flowerpot or something and fill it with sand or dirt. I’m glad y’all are ok.

FCM, I’ve taken too much Tramadol before. It sucks mightily! The sweating is the worst part. I’m glad he figured it out.

I’ve mostly just skimmed, so appropriate boos and yays to everyone.

Mwah!
