# The "Louie Louie" Lyrics And Us "Boomers"

Oh, how _hard_ we tried to make them dirty, didn’t we?

We slowed down the 33 1/3 rpm version (flat black plastic discs for you kiddos who don’t remember), played the song backwards, swore we heard sexy stuff, called the radio stations to request it and told our local high school rock bands to play it unintelligibly, and then slammed our acne-infested teen bodies against each other!:eek:

I remember “hunching” my then-girlfriend to the song and getting “blue-balls” on the drive home!🆒

So that’s what MY band (The Watchmen) did when WE played it - just made up sexy and unintelligible words. But who knew that very soon it wouldn’t even _matter_ how the lyrics were understood: The Stones and Doors and so many others were coming ;), and even though there was much “double entendre”, the meanings were clear.

Yup, my man Frank and his Mothers were right in the thick of it, weren’t they?

Okay, what’s my point?

Here’s your Louie Louie lyrics and except for that place where Lynn Easton _may_ have sung “fuck”, in retrospect there really was nothing to get a hard-on or wet panties about.

Mass Rock’n Roll Hysteria, dude, but didn’t it sell the records?😉

Just a mundane thing, really, but being an old rock 'n roller, I was always bemused by how us kids “took” the song and created our own lyrics.

Bet The Kingsmen were as well and smiled all the way to the bank!

Oh yeah… guess I need to add that The Watchmen sang “I doubt that I’ll ever lay her again!”:rolleyes:

Point: That song didn’t _start out_ as “dirty”.
